This is the guy I’ve wanted since after the first Leavitt/Demond debacle.

Give Lane a guy he’ll have around for a few years, and his game is similar to Chambliss’s IMO.

Prepare for “why are we paying that guy?!”

When we’ve gone after every top 10 qb available

And yes. Longstreet is a top 10 guy.

Update tomorrow morning will be “Longstreet’s visit to LSU is going very well. LSU trying to land its 2026 starting QB”

And then the next update will be “Longstreet plans to visit Miami. Leaves LSU without signing.”

He is looking like the last big fish at QB in the portal. Lane and Co need to land this big fish in the boat ASAP! Which means you will probably have to overpay him since Miami and Oregon need a QB also.

His 247 high school evaluation:

quote:

Dual-threat quarterback with a rifle for an arm who can pepper the perimeter like few others. In-person evaluations reinforce that he’s a unique, twitched-up athlete. Still progressing as a passer and learning how to be a high-efficiency distributor who can change speeds and utilize touch when needed. However, can make some jaw-dropping throws; can put a 2-ball on a tight rope right over defenders and shows limited fear when looking to shell tight coverage windows. Very effective on run-pass options with his initial burst and has the strength to plow through defenders when he turns up field. Has dealt with a variety of different injuries throughout prep career, but appears to be a competitor who will gut it out and play through pain. Had his moments early in senior year against some well-respected competition, but accuracy fluctuated and he failed to protect the football (threw two interceptions against Santa Margarita and two more against Lone Peak while also losing a fumble). Likely to find most success in a power-based spread attack that wants to utilize him in the run game. Overall, a gifted athlete for the quarterback position with plenty of juice as a passer who has flashed an extremely high ceiling, but is far from a complete product.

What are you basing this on? The 10 snaps he played this year? Did he even attempt a pass?

At some point these QB’s will have to make a decision to avoid musical chairs.

Would be a steal. That’s a perfect guy for Kiffin and Weis Jr to develop.

He is still a QB2 at this point. No starting experience vs Leavitt or Clark. Would be great for "next guy up"

You are not a really good evaluator of QBs.
