That’s a bit (by a bit I mean a lot) disingenuous.

The Chargers has almost no short routes schemed up to get the ball out of his hands quickly.

I don’t know if it’s OC incompetence or the Pats D just took it away completely from their original look. But that chart tells you very little about OL play.

This is definitely one of those times my eyes were lying to me

Unless I’m missing something this makes absolutely no sense

There is absolutely nothing disingenuous about having an average of 3.62 seconds to throw man

You can’t blame the OL when that happens

He was hit a few times but on average I felt like I was watching him sit back there forever

He looked pressured as soon as he got the ball. The play calling was the worst part.

I only watched the fourth quarter last night and your chart is telling me something completely different from what I saw

Calm down. I’m not saying YOU are wrong. Just that he seemed like he had people in his face as soon as the touched the ball when he was in shotgun

Does this take into account scrambling? Or Is it just a timer from snap to ball thrown.
Hebert was running for his life buying time a lot. That could skew these numbers.

Meanwhile you have Arod who is a statue at this point. I am sure his timer was short.

Clean pocket rates would be a much better stat to use

Exactly.

Time to throw has always been a flawed stat as playstyles will change the average by too much.

It is nice to see but needs context. I know my eyes saw Herbert running for his life non stop. Him being a good athlete delayed time.

PFF separately measured Herbert’s time to throw taking out scrambling and it was the highest measured time to throw of his entire career by them…

It is when your thread title says “he had the most time to throw”. The PFF measurement is the time to release, sack, or scramble past the line of scrimmage. That’s time until an action, but the name of it implies they have x amount of time to throw. It’s not, it means there was x amount of time before the QB did something to where a pass couldn’t happen in the future. It’s not an O-Line quality stat.

Caleb Williams last year and Cam Ward this year had the highest TTT in the regular season. Both O-lines were bad and the QBs didn’t play well either. Herbert wasn’t good, but implying that it was in spite of great O-line play is absolutely disingenuous.

You know who doesn’t use PFF’s TTT stat as a measure by itself to measure a QB? PFF.

I’m not. I’m either blaming the OC or giving the Pats D tremendous credit. Given Chargers players were saying they were doing things they never showed on film, that means the answer is likely “both”. The Chargers got out coached and out played.

High TTT in a vacuum doesn’t mean an O-Line played well or poorly.

ETA:

PFF has the pressure rate on Herbert that game at 57% (!!!!!!!!)

Herbert hasn't been very good for 2 years now. Harbaugh has ruined him.

QBR is a retarded farts and fairy tales stat. It means nothing, it has no real measurement of quality of play.

Herbert was pressured on over half of his dropbacks which is a perfect summary of how arse cheeks their offensive line was this year. They were by far the worst all-around offensive line in the NFL this year. They were 32nd in run blocking and 31st in pass blocking and the only reason why they weren’t last in pass blocking is because Herbert avoided a crazy number of sacks this year (over 30 something the last I saw).

Some people can only follow sports through stats. Watching the actual game is lost on them.
