FBI executed a search warrant Wednesday morning at the home of Washington Post reporter in Virginia—while she was present.

Agents searched Hannah Nathanson’s home & devices as part of a probe into Maryland govt contractor Aurelio Perez-Lugones (top-secret clearance), accused of illegally accessing/retaining classified intel reports, per FBI affidavit.

Natanson covers the federal workforce & has led sensitive reporting on Trump admin's year-one efforts to reshape/fire federal employees.

WaPo says it's reviewing/monitoring the situation.

This past week, at the request of the Department of War, the Department of Justice and FBI executed a search warrant at the home of a Washington Post journalist who was obtaining and reporting classified and illegally leaked information from a Pentagon contractor. The leaker is currently behind bars. I am proud to work alongside Secretary Hegseth on this effort. The Trump Administration will not tolerate illegal leaks of classified information that, when reported, pose a grave risk to our Nation’s national security and the brave men and women who are serving our country.

I'm glad the leaker is behind bars.

That said- I thought journalists had pretty free rein on using what they receive?

Here's a snippet on the leaker... another foreign name trusted with top level information or security. Seems to be a theme lately.

Better than seeing the window-licking Panicans post that retarded Chris Farley meme where he's yelling at Bondi.

honestly, who gives a shite anymore. communist sympathizers and outright activists in the media have been acting with impunity for decades by claiming some sort of immunity because they are "journalists". somethign has to give.

It is an interesting question. I wonder if it has to do with whether they "know" it is classified or not. If they know then they may be required to report they have it and not publish it?

I could also see this maybe as purely a recovery operation. She may not be in trouble but she cannot keep the classified information.

That sounds reasonable.

Or maybe she knew it was classified information and provided her "source" with guidance on how to break the law? I could see a situation where a reporter crosses a threshold from simply receiving information and becomes complicit.

As long as they played no part in the leaking, they can’t be prosecuted.

This is what happens when you fire all the smart attorneys and fill the government with podcasters…

Not saying I fully disagree with you, but no reason to believe they are trying to prosecute her. They could be searching for evidence related to the leaker if they have probable cause to believe she has evidence at her home.

The sensationalism in journalism these days are as bad as any politician for creating tensions in the American people.

Natanson bragged about her year-long role as a portal for complaints by federal workers--some who disclosed to her they had contemplated suicide over the president's reforms--in a Dec 2025 columns and revealed she clearly accepted information she knew she should not have had. The senders also acknowledged as much.

This leak operation resulted in several stories at WashPo intended to damage the Trump administration.
