For Those Who Want Wade, Why Would He Come Back?

I liked the direction our basketball team was headed under Will Wade, but considering that we fired him, why would he entertain an offer to come back?
Money can't, and doesn't, fix everything. We all have some level of pride and ego, so just from that standpoint, I don't see a scenario in which Wade would come back this soon.
Maybe someday enough time will have passed for Wade to forgive and forget, but IMO, it is still too soon for that to happen.
Also, in terms of basketball hierarchy, NC State is much more of a "basketball school" and is more highly regarded than LSU. So if Will is trying to build his brand, or increase his value, he'll do both much faster at NC State than at LSU.
If you disagree, I look forward to reading your reasons pointing out why I'm wrong or uninformed.
A change at the top is absolutely needed. This has to be the last year for McMahon. But with that said, IMO, Will Wade, like Elvis, has left the building.

Money and administrative support. He has a tremendous amount of loyalty to the former McNeese administrators who are now at or will soon be at LSU. Plus, the ACC is well behind the SEC from a financial perspective.
Not sure how his relationship is with the NC state administration, but I do know that he was not their athletic director’s first choice last year.
You can talk about legacy “Basketball schools“ all you want, he is currently making less than McMahon is making at LSU.
ETA.
The fact that LSU previously fired him will not keep him from coming back. You have to realize that the people who did that to him were unceremoniously shown the door over the last several months. The people there now have been extremely loyal and supportive of him.
Not saying it’s going to happen, but that door is certainly open from both sides.

Only reason for Wade is he just wants to be at LSU. NC State definitely takes basketball more seriously than LSU. Nobody denies that.

He flat out said LSU is a sleeping giant waiting to be awoken in basketball. Dude knows his reach would be limitless here, and the jackass(es) responsible for his firing are long gone.

He wouldn’t. He was fired here. Move on.

He won’t have to compete with Duke and UNC

Then why are they paying him less than we are paying McMahon?

NC State got him at a discount coming from McNeese. He is rebuilding his career again. You are totally ignoring what happened at LSU and some programs wouldn’t touch Wade. Also Woody massively overpays every coach he hires, lol.

Agreed that Woodward massively overpays, but Wade is making the exact same at NC State today that he made at LSU in 2017.
He also did not get the NIL support he was promised on the front end.
NC State may value basketball more than football, but they still don’t seem to have the money. A significant part of that is the ACC is just behind the SEC significantly on Conference revenue.

Again are you ignoring that Wade had to take a massive step back in his career to coach at McNeese? LOL, that wasn’t a planned stop. It’s not a natural progression. NC State got him at a discount.

He will be paid more, LSU is a more attractive brand with the right person recruiting, and he would probably have input with the new arena

I am not ignoring that, but if at the end of this year, he’s comparing those two schools, then what he is making today at NC State matters.
Not sure what kind of appetite NC State will have to raise his pay significantly after year one, unless he makes a deep run in the tournament.

If he were so inclined, he could even consider his return a great way to stick it in their eyes.

He would be crazy to come back. NC State is a much better job.

Lol no it's not. You guys couldn't even sell out the pmac when Wade was there.

Surely LSU can do better than NC State with NIL money.
He could have support from former McNeese people who are at LSU now.
The one who fired him, against popular opinion, got his arse runned oft.
It could be a triumphant return and a giant FU to Scott Woodward.
I could see it happening.

Maybe as a big FU to Woody? Also, you seem to be glossing over the actual impact that money can effect. The current LSU system president hired him at Mcneese when he had been written off as well.
You might be right for all I know. He’s a proven winner who can, and has, won at LSU, which is why many people want him back. Nobody on this board can predict his motivation or if he makes a move. I probably wouldn’t if I were him.

Don’t be ignorant. LSU is a bigger and better brand than NC St in every facet and it’s not particularly close.
LSU could also buy Wade back and the entire team if they wanted to and NC St could do nothing about it.
