- January 14, 2026, released 911 audio where a Florida driver recognizes registered sex offender Darnell Hairston driving with a missing 11-year-old boy and another child, then follows him on I-95 while updating dispatchers despite being advised against it.
- This pursuit enabled Flagler County deputies to conduct a January 7 traffic stop, leading to Hairston's arrest for allegedly holding the boy captive for three days, hog-tying and torturing him with threats of a knife and gun.
-Hairston—a prior Level 2 offender—now faces kidnapping and aggravated child abuse charges without bail.
