I mean obviously LSU got their money right (was not the case 2-3 years ago) and that’s helps a lot but I think the biggest thing is these kids just believe him.

If Lane is targeting you specifically, it’s for a damn good reason, he’s got a job for you. Players being put in that kind of position has gotta be motivating as hell.

LSU under Lane in year 1 might need some time to gel/develop but with two of the best minds on both sides of the ball (Lane & Baker) we’re gonna be dangerous as hell right out of the gate.

Remember watching Saban slowly build a monster at bama and how horrifying it was to watch in real time ?

Now imagine that at full warp speed.

The dude took a bulldozer to a terrible offensive roster and is a few OL commits away from not only rebuilding it but making it on paper a top level one.

The people freaking out two days into the opening cough wolfcola cough look pretty dumb

The downside ? Going to be a long offseason because it’s the first football season in a bit I’ve been truly hyped about…. Oh yeah and we get to kick it off at home against a quality opponent

Lane paired with the three letters is a dangerous concept, no wonder people nationally are hoping he fails.

Amen to that and I feel ya. However, good baseball always help make the time go by and this should be another fun summer for LSU baseball.

We had the #1 portal class last year though, no?

And that was with peak lazy Kelly playing golf and scratching his balls. I’m all-in on Kiffin, but how did we manage the #1 portal class last year?

Yes, which is why I specified further back.

We lost just about every portal target the year prior (remember all those DTs?). Brian Kelly does get some credit for waking up the money people to the reality of the era we’re in.

I think the defensive staff played a role. Look at the most impactful portal players we had. Other than Moore- all the rest were on the defensive side. And the 3 most impactful on the team were easily Delane, Halsey and Gooden.

We spent a lot of money on several offensive players who looked good on paper, but didn’t fit or pan out. A lot of that falls on Kelly for not supervising that side more thoroughly.

Yes, we had the #1 portal class last year, as well. And yes, that didn't stop us from having a bad season. OTHO, it very possible to have a highly ranked portal class (LSU '25) and yet NOT adequately meet your team needs (LSU '25). In particular, we didn't adequately address desperate needs in the OL. Think of what an impact it might've been to substitute only an above average OL for a very highly ranked WR like Nic Anderson? Your ranking in the portal might've dropped, but your team would've been better. In addition, CLK is bringing in a lot more multi-year players than what we saw w/ CBK. Many of CBK's guys were one and done. CLK doesn't have many guys w/ only 1 year of eligibility left.

This! I can’t name hardly any other coach in college football that could’ve convinced a QB like Longstreet to still sign with LSU even after the #1 QB Leavitt signed with us. Whatever Lane Kiffin pitches to these guys, they definitely love it.
