AAA auto service is trash

Vehicle broke down in mall parking lot. Called AAA over 2 hours ago to get it towed.
Told me would have truck there within 1 hour. Told me to track in app.
App just keeps refreshing. After an hour call, say 30 more min. After that call again, they say they can’t get in touch with provider and will “try” to find another one but no guarantees.
Also said I can try to find my own tow and can file for them to consider reimbursement” in 4-6 weeks
Still have no idea when they will send someone so I called a company and are waiting on them.
I’m a premier member by the way.
Total crap.

I pay Geico about a dollar per month per car for emergency roadside assistance. The one time I needed a tow, they had someone out there in 45 minutes and managed to not frick up my car in the process.
Five stars.
ETA: And I could request it through the app, so no need to call anyone.

Do you need to help the tow truck driver?
Just head home.

Apparently not since you can't even get a tow truck

At the end of the day AAA or any of those companies just contract with all the local towing companies to tow your car when you call them. Rest assured when you call for a tow through AAA you get put to the bottom of the list because its a contracted deal and they can't scam you for $350. God help you if you need a tow at like 3am.

Right?!?!
At least it’s me and not my wife or kid that’s stranded

I have always had great service through AAA. From a flat tire, tow, to battery service. All top notch service providers.

Ive used it several times. Tow companies claim to love it because its paid immediately, as opposed to insurance. My wait was never over 30 min.

My AAA Premier membership has been some of the best money I’ve ever spent

I know pretty much everything about this, AMA

They should have sent you updates. Many times they have to jostle tow trucks around due to a bad wreck. Pray for those that may be hurt and be thankful you only have a mechanical problem.
I know, been there.

Is this the typical “Louisiana shite companies and employees” thing where this service works everywhere but here?

I have had nothing but great experiences with AAA.
And I’ve had a lot.

The majority of roadside assistance services go through 2 or 3 big companies who farm it out to local contractors, thus, the quality of the local contractors has everything to do with the service you receive.
Timing also matters.
Motor clubs usually pay a contractor much less than they charge normal customers so they'll prioritize you less, especially outside of large cities.
But you'll also pay a lot less in the end.
It's pretty common for a 100 mile tow these days to be up to $700 minimum.

I use them several times per year and they’ve always been great. I’ve never had an issue. Well worth the $95/year.

Why do all of you need tow trucks so much except for a bad enough wreck?

They’re a little slow sometimes but I’ve generally had a good experience with AAA
