Looks a lot more like Panama to me except Maduro had mass opposition.

Trump Says He Left Maduro Regime in Place to Avoid Repeat of Iraq

quote:

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump told reporters while departing the White House on Jan. 16 that he is working with interim Venezuelan leader Delcy Rodriguez rather than aligning with opposition leader Maria Corina Machado because he wants to maintain stability in the region.

He said his decision was based on a desire to avoid a power vacuum that might emerge if the entire regime was swiftly dismantled, noting the challenges faced in Iraq after American forces invaded.

“If you ever remember a place called Iraq where everybody was fired, every single person, the police, the generals, everybody was fired, and they ended up being ISIS,” Trump said. “Instead of just getting down to business, they ended up being ISIS.”

Genius move by Trump. Glad we are getting out of there ASAP. Can you imagine how much of a disaster this would be if we had Obama trying to run this? We’d be over there for years.

It's been reported the Delcy Rodriquez family are straight up gangstas, they made a lot of their money in the 70's-90's kidnapping oil executives and demanding big money for their release.

Trump wants the oil from Venezuela. Maduro being a dictator was not an issue for him. He just wanted someone who will obey him.

He just needs to make sure they have a legit election ASAP. Don't let this lady get in their good graces. Or make sure she can't run as part of the deal. Just a transition position.

Remove a cartel leader to let an even bigger cartel puppet take over.

That Venezuelan excitement and support will fade quickly.

This is the plan.

This not Iraq. We have the chance to leave a functioning government in Venezuela that is not part of the old corrupt gang. We should take that chance. Rodriguez is not the answer. We should give Machado an opportunity and a free and fair election.

Some cycle out, others cycle in. It's obvious.

It really is interesting. That one I responded to just started up hot the last few days. A 15yo acct with 1k posts, just "remembered" it and decided to come back around. Funny indeed.

I’ve been frustrated by the modern Republican movement and come on here to argue about it. I still hold conservative thoughts and ideals like I used to but I’ll admit I lean to left on some. I’d argue that modern Trump movement is not conservative and relies mainly on what trump says on any given day.

Yeah, I noticed that user when it responded to my thread about TDS being a legitimate psychiatric disorder out of the blue. I looked up its account as well and thought the same thing.

Clocking in for his shift after 10 years being absent.

I promise Trump knows way more about this situation than you do. Trust him.

Nobody has been more consistent than Trump. No idea what you’re talking about.

I mean his base will tend to accept his framing on literally anything. Like his ramp up on foreign military affairs after saying no more foreign wars. People are suddenly pro-war again to the point if we actually put boots on the ground somewhere, they could work their minds around to agree with it.

Let me know when we are at war or are putting boots on the ground somewhere because I still don't see it.

Please do keep wish casting though. Maybe if it happens and people agree with the decision you will have your long sought after gotcha against Trump.

I’ve seen very very little of this within MAGA. I’d venture to say an extremely small percentage are pro war. Being for taking out dictators and doing a transfer of power without troops on the ground is much different than “pro war”

I think this is a good move. It's not wise to have such a pig political shift right away. They can gradually move away from their old ways.
