OL I think is the one spot I wish they’d done better with

Keep in mind, according to PFF, there isn't a single OL out there that is good at run blocking

PFF is a joke with their ratings. They consistently have evaluations that are way off.

OL is still a huge concern for me, especially if we don't land Seaton. I know that CLK is a master at scheming, but even still.

At least Bah(w) has a decent rating. He'll start as a Guard.

Harper will almost certainly start, and I think Solomon Thomas will as well. I think Harper gets a look at Tackle.

I'll feel a lot better if we get Seaton, but if we don't, that means Weston, Thompkins, and the UK guy will be the remaining options to start at Tackle unless Martinez comes in as a guy who's ready.

Most of them are better off pass blocking grade wise than run blocking, some by large margins

Seaton's PFF grade is in the mid 60s but elite pass blocker

If we get Seaton I personally think he, Bah and maybe Harper are the only transfers starting for us.

Moore and Davis are probably pretty locked in C/RT. Seaton would be LT. Harper could grab LG potentially, or Soloman Thomas if he lives up to the hype.

My very early guess on the OL IF we land Seaton would be:

LT: Seaton
LG: Thomas/Harper
C: Moore
RG: Bah
RT: Davis

There were very very few "well" graded OLinemen in the portal I would say by far the majority of our grabs so far werent intended to be starters here, rather depth pieces which we also needed.

Seaton and Bah are pretty solid and will do fine (Seaton more than fine probably). Harper has a ton ton ton of upside and played LT some for OM this year and held his own. Everyone else like Thompkins, Satterwhite, Ja'Mard Jones, Strey, Sprinkle and JaKolby Jones (JUCO) are more depth plays that most have some experience at least.

Agreed. But I think you are going to soon realize next season that the low grades of all of the players on offense were more the result of being in a truly awful offensive approach. One that no player could have had much success in. Kind of like Orgeron's shitty defensive approach after Aranda left. No one was going to have much success in it. That's why you saw previously "bad" players and a "bad" defense get remarkably better at the end of the 2021 season. LSU's changed the overall approach from O's terrible plan

I think biggest changes will be coaching and scheme that will make PFF grades not as important, the kids that played last yr had talent, just coaching and scheme may have been problem

I'd agree if it were the same players but last years players are gone and all these players have bad grades at their previous schools. Many of which are at a much lower level. The one encouraging sign is that the single OM OL addition has the best grade. So maybe the scheme will make these guys better.

Yes it is worth noting that a poor grade on any current, former or incoming LSU player is void and not accurate.

I thought I read that Jones only gave up one sack on the season, seems like his grade would be higher.

A broken clock is capable of being right twice a day. PFF grades are like if the old BCS system for college football used only one of the computer polls instead of a composite ranking of several.

PFF uses fricking uber drivers to help evaluate players. Grain of salt shall be taken.

He did only give up one sack, he also only started 4 games. Again like most modern OLinemen, pass blocking grade (68.7) way way ahead of run blocking (42.4)

Maybe you know something the rest of us don't but I'd hesitate to count Seaton as in. Maybe its due to past failures but it feels like we are due to miss on a big target we want.
