My wife's friend claims Cortana Mall never had a Movie Theatre unless it was before the 80's.

I'm almost positive I went to a movie or two at Cortana ( I think it was across from Chik-Fil-A). Friend claims I'm thinking about Bon Marche Mall.

It definitely had a movie theatre

According to a Google search:
quote:

The three-screen cinema at Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge, operated by General Cinema Corporation, opened with the mall in 1976 but closed in 1988

Theater was next to mama bravas pizza, was small only a few , maybe 3 or 4
They also had another one on the property but out in the parking lot that was independent of the mall proper but on the property for a while too

I grew up in the 80s. ‘95 graduate. We always went to Bon Marche for movies. Want to say Cortana had a limited 2-3 screen theatre at some point, but our choices as kids were Bon Marche or the dollar theater on Broadmoor.

If I remember correctly, there was an air brush tshirt shop right next to it. Vintage 80s baby.

Mama Brava's was right next to Chik Fil A's, right? The theatre was across from Brava's and Chik fil A's right?

Bon Marche’s McDonalds was all the way on the other side of the mall. Got sketchy after 8:00pm.

Broadmoor dollar theatre, you had to hit the Frostop.

That's where my dad and I watched C.H.U.D. when I was about 13 or so.

It was across the hallway from Chick Fil A and not far from Mama Bravas

Bon marche had a bigger theater (like 8 or more screens. Remember going all the time as a kid. In early ‘80s they had a 98c movie night on Tuesday’s. It was WFMF 98.1 night. (Before they went off the air for a while and came back in 102.5).

But Cortana had a small theater of 2 or 3 screens. Was open in the 90s.

I remember when it was Cinema 8 and then Cinema 11.

I saw a million movies there but I distinctly remember seeing Home Alone and E.T. there.

It 100% had a theatre. Bon Marche mall had two. One stand alone on the back side on Lobdell and Cinema 12 on the front side.

Standalone at BM where was I saw "Revenge of the Nerds." Cinema 6/8/11 was where I saw too many great movies to count..."Raiders of the Lost Ark", "E.T.", "Back to the Future," and on and on.

Cortana definitely had a theater. I saw "Hoosiers", "Poltergeist", "Rocky III" and a lot of others there.

Yes Mama Brava was just across from it. Just down the way was SpacePort arcade - next to Pearson's Luggage and Orange Julius. I spent a lot of time there as a kid
