Most surreal thing you experienced from this winter storm

It came in early Sunday morning for us and i was outside shoveling the front & back (we have steps and house built into a hill so i absolutely cant just let it go or we wouldn't even be able to get to our cars) in the freezing rain and hearing and seeing never-ending tree branches crack and fall.
But the real surreal moment was standing and watching..with my mouth open..as not one..but TWO trees fell. Slow motion train wreck. I watched one slowly descend on my neighbor's house knowing there was absolutely nothing that could be done.
When the second one fell I decided my little snow removal adventure was over and i went inside.
Never in my life thought I would catch the moment when a massive tree fell but I watched 2 come down in the space of an hour.

The realization that I don’t like my wife, kids, and dog as much as I thought I did.

Trees exploding. Sounded like a rifle

I’ve seen this a few times while hunting. I was in camo so the tree didn’t know I was there, made a pretty big noise.

So, it does make a sound. I knew it!

Not seeing any wildlife. All the usual critters are in hiding from the cold.

It is a little different in ice, but after a good snow my favorite thing is how quiet everything gets. Nothing is stirring and there is no traffic noise in the background. It is just......quiet and the snow insulates any sounds that do happen.
With ice you have that quiet but with the background of the creaking and cracking of trees and plants, and it is just a whole lot more nerve racking.

Not necessarily this winter, but when you get into pine forest and experience silence because the pine needles absorb so much sound.

Nothing other than it’s colder than a witch’s titty in a brass bra.

Did you start a roux or get the deep fryer ready?

Not seeing any wildlife.
Today? Not a single one showed up for dinner.

Way-back-on-the-list girlfriend convinced me to fund her thing of buying cheap dollar-store cookies for the raccoon krewe at NOLA City Park. Yes, we were some of the folks feeding them, and I was thankful when the City made the raccoons go away..
Interesting creatures. As were the raccoons, too.

My dad used to feed coons that came to the house from the woods behind us. He just put out dry dog food for them. They must have liked it because at one time there were 14 of them that would show up every evening.

The sound of trees exploding in the woods behind my house. Awesome.

Predawn Sunday morning, refueling the generator, with trees cracking and limbs falling in the back yard along with thunder roared lightening all while sleet and freezing rain poured down.

What's crazy is almost everyday everyone's been going stir crazy and the one day we make it over to a neighborhood party with other kids and parents drinking, it was amazing and the whole family went right back to our usual groove
