Did not see this posted yet. Someone thought it was a drive thru? Clean up in Aisle 9.

METAIRIE, La. (WVUE) - A driver was hospitalized Tuesday night (March 3) after crashing a vehicle through the front entrance of Dorignac’s Food Center, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said. The age and condition of the man were not disclosed. The JPSO said no one inside the grocery store was injured, and that the driver was taken to a hospital “as a precaution.” The crash was reported at 6:05 p.m. at the store at 710 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Deputies said the cause of the crash is under investigation. The store closed after the crash as contractors began repairs. The family-owned business told Fox 8 it intends to reopen on Wednesday.

My apologies to the owners of the property and their grocery store tenant.
I had the munchies and was really craving some Hot Pockets and Doritos.

I remember when old Mr. Dorignac used to sit at the round table with his friends at the front of the store right next to that entrance.

quote:that looks like where the vehicle actually crashed based on the pic, through the window where the tables are next to the hot plate station. The actual entrance is to the right of the vehicle in the pic

More news from Old Metairie, Gordon buying the office building and now a Dorignacs accident.

He did not go through the entrance. He went through the brick/window unit just to the east of the east entrance. There is also a big red pipe that was there to stop idiots from driving into the store.
I used to live less than 350 yds. from that window he took out.

I was told glass and pieces of the car flew all the way to the back of the store. Must have been driving at a good rate of speed. Lucky no customers or employees got hit .

Nothing will stop an old man’s need for that fresh Chisesi ham and Dorignac’s rare roast beef.

I bought my first new truck in 1996 and drove straight to Dorignacs to buy groceries. When I was walking out of the store, I watched an 80 something year old man back into the side of my truck that had all of 15 miles on it.

In what universe do you think Dorignac’s rents that property

For sure.
In this side of Metarie the old drivers really are a danger. They drive 15 mph in the neighborhood. They stop at intersections that have no stop signs and drive thru the ones that do have stop signs.
They slow down on Veterans to 20mph a half a mile before where they have to turn into a business and then if they don’t immediately see a parking spot they might just come to a complete stop on the road.
About 10 years ago a woman killed a guy in the parking lot of a pharmacy. She was parking up front and a man was walking in front of her. Instead of hitting the brake she pushed down on the gas peddle and she crushed him into the store. She had partially jumped a parking concrete barrier and kept her foot on the gas even after hitting the man. People ran to help with the situation and had to pull her out of the car to get her to stop with the gas.
Five years ago a friend of mine’s mom drove into the Hallmark store on Metairie Road.
