What the hell was Stanfield doing on that slide in the top of the 9th?? He could’ve made it even if the guy didn’t drop the ball with a good slide there!

I’m just happy they didn’t call some BS interference

Because he didn't have his leg extended, he would have been out if they don't drop the ball.

I was worried about possible interference.

He had to be thinking 1 out and was trying to break up a double play. Only thing that made sense to me as to why he slid in the way he did

Another one of those fundamentals that this team just isn't super crisp with. Hard to figure out.

Two things.

It’s tough to slide and hold onto the bag on that crap.

Second thing he just needed to beat the throw and we tie it up. I’ve seen major leaguers run through the bag to get their quicker snd then giving themselves up.

You could argue that it was.

Jay 100% would have challenged if we were on defense. Ellander has absolutely zero game sense, so he didn't.

Good thing Jake Brown hit that ball slowly. His typical hard hit ball and the game is over. We lose. Arrambide no record. Baseball is a brutal game of inches and small details that make all the difference. Good thing Stanfield can run.

Bench Yorke and let Yamin play a lot more. He can play 1st too.

He was cliding into the bag legally. He wasn't out of the base path. The errant throw took the guy covering the base toward Stanfield. The only time that'll get called is if Jeff Head is the ump covering that bag.

I recall a play at second where Head called Milam out. The replay showed it wasn't close, and Milam was safe. Watching the replay, you had to wonder if Head even saw the tag. Jeff Head is a bad umpire, and somehow, he was on the field in Omaha last year.

That’s all I could think of too. I said it in real time “What is Stanfield doing sliding sideways like he’s trying to break up and double play and not straight into the bag?”

I thought he would have been safe even if he didn’t drop the ball if he’d have just extended his leg and slid right into it. Thinking there was only 1 out and trying to break up a double play was the only thing that made sense.

I don't think anyone is bitching about a win. They are just saying it was an unnecessary manner of sliding that could have been ruled interference (we've seen far less ruled interference). Then again, maybe he's out if he just slides normally.

Watching it live I was really surprised the Tenn coach didn't challenge (maybe he was out of challenges?). It seems like a pretty easy risk/reward call there. The risk is you lose the challenge and don't have anymore for the rest of the game. The reward is the runner is out and you win the game right then and there. IMO, it was worth a shot for Tenn. Glad their HC felt otherwise.

I think if he hit that ball hard, it gets through.

That, or they have no play at all at 2B and have to go to 1B, where I think Brown beats it out.

Yeah I was a Yorke defender but this weekend was bad. I think he will be needed down the line, and is much more talented than the performances he's putting out there currently, but he needs to sit for at least a weekend. I mean he just has no confidence on either side of the ball right now.
