He said first year would be a sticker shock and more expensive. A lot of reports hinting at he has 12-15 million a year for roster promised. If that’s anywhere near accurate then my guess would be around $25 million if you have to basically get a whole team that is competitive through portal. Probably $15 million on top 5 guys. Guessing another $5-6 on next 3 guys and then another $4-5 on the other 5-7 guys depending on how many on the roster. The last 5-7 hopefully being young guys, combo of freshman and transfers with potential that were freshman this year. Thought is most of your big money guys here for one year, 3 of the 5. That leaves money to increase pay for your 3 main bench guys to be starters the next year and also increase pay to retain the ones from the bottom tier that you think can help. I could be way off but that’s my spitball thought process to it. Obviously some will portal every year regardless

Michigan was around 10 mil so.... I'll say 12 mil to compete.

Boy was I off then…lol. Fun to think about even though it’s ridiculous what players are getting paid and you have to pay big to be competitive. I just want to be competitive on regular basis. Is that so wrong?

According to Trilly the top tier players are going for 3-4.5 million each right now. That 13 million might not go as far as we thought

If 10 million just won a National Championship, why does it need to up by 2 million just to compete?

Michigan proved 10 was plenty enough to win the whole thing.

Still about eval. You’ve got to hit on the difference makers and hopefully an impactful freshman. MM kyrptonite! 8 rotation players is what you need.
2 transfer studs = 4 million
2 stud freshman recruits = 4 million
4 starters/rotation = 2/3 million

#9-#15 = 1 million

His point still holds. If 10 mil wins a championship, then that or less, even with inflation, should get you competitive.

North Carolina was paying $14 million this year. Last year sec average was $8.5. So $12 to $20

I heard him say that but I don't get it. every year is a new team and new expenses. they don't have bargains for second year players.
