Kenyon Sadiq, to me, is better than the WR at the top of the draft and he’s a well rounded TE in that he’s a very good blocker as well as having 4.39 speed. That being said I still hope the pick is our Marshon Lattimore replacement in Mansoor Delane but I wouldn’t be mad if we got our young QB another weapon.

I agree. Caleb Downs is going to be a great player too but I value outside corner more which is why I want Delane. When Lane Kiffin walks out before the game last year just to watch Delane warm up and that made Lane not throw at him. That says a lot about his talent. He’s a day 1 lockdown corner that lets Kool-aid become the #2 where he’s more suited.

Downs is a safe pick, but he's far from a prospect that will be elite and game changing routine all pro caliber IMHO. I think his athleticism flaw is gonna be really apparent when it comes to safety play, but you can't question his football iq and how fluid he plays.

I think it's a really high floor, but a capped ceiling for him. It's honestly how you want to address the draft. Do we swing for fences or do we just go bpa and be safe with high floors

Sadiq is undersized for tight end, didn’t block a heck a lot in college, doesn’t run sharp routes or have a lot of wiggle. Most production came from short passes where he just outruns slower defenders. Won’t happen as easily in the NFL. Let someone else draft his biceps and 40 time.

never happen and isn't a need especially at 8

I'd just rather wait til later and take Genesis Smith, Jalen Kilgore, or Kamari Ramsey than spend the number 8 pick on a Safety.

He averaged like 11 yards a catch in college, I'm not using the 8th pick on that

I kinda agree with you, it's definitely more important to get your elite corner and take Kilgore or Bud Clark in the 3rd if you want to add a safety

If you picking a safety at 8, he better be damn near Ed Reed level. Safety is just not a premium position to be picking that high.

I'd have to disagree on Downs being far from elite and all pro caliber:
Downs is one of only a couple true freshman to ever start for Saban.
He's a QB of the defense. High character, high football IQ, will contribute on special teams. What more could you ask for in a prospect? All intangibles are there to seperate himself as a future All Pro.

You don't have to swing for the fences where the Saints are sitting. There are going to be a couple high floor / high ceiling guys available.
I think Downs is the safer pick, but I'm basing that on our previous luck with drafting defensive lineman.

What’s down’s 40 time?

Any athletic traits recorded?

Nope. Dude is being drafted off of being smart lol

I mean you can look all that up if you want?
He runs a 4.4 - 4.5
He returned punts for Bama and Ohio State and has taken them to the house. He's known to have a good burst. Sounds decently athletic to me and a non concern.

Everybody is athletic in the NFL, and the difference in good players and great players is what's between your ears.

Yes, I definitely want to draft the smart guy. I'm trying to avoid the guy that runs fast and jumps high, but doesn't know his head from his arse.

I agree with you 100%, he better be a for sure superstar if your gonna take a Safety at 8, especially when you also have so many other holes

I wish we would’ve doubled up at safely last year. I wanted Watts and we got Sanker. Both would’ve been nice. Idk how Watts fell so far. He was a damn turnover machine.
