They are going to make it where I can’t watch any sports.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) voted in November to allow NIL deals for high school athletes after a lawsuit was filed by Jamier Brown, a high school football player from Wayne High School in Huber Heights near Dayton. Brown is a top recruit planning to go to Ohio State University.

Louisiana players already have this now. Ohio behind the times.

IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL has entered the chat. They have been doing this since at least the 80's.

When will the arrogance spread to middle schools?

i mean why do you care? has it changed LA HS sports?
why do you care if they can get paid?

I remember when Louisiana created the voucher program so private schools could go buy the best athletes from across the state.
Good times. Seeing 6'-3" grown adults in 7th grade dunking 5'-0" tall stupefied white 12 and 13 year old's never gets old.

What is a high schoolers argument to receive NIL? The school he plays for isn’t profiting off his abilities. The stands is filled with parents and students.
Any state that does this is freaking retarded.

It is near universal now in some form. I think 45 states allow HS NIL payments.

I can't wait until preschoolers are getting NIL deals.

It's certainly small profits compared to CFB, but most high school games do require some nominal attendance fees to watch the games like $5 per person or something.
At least in the case of private schools, there theoretically can be some bigger (albeit difficult to calculate) profits to the schools in the sense that a good football team might make people more likely to attend the school.

umm maybe because you dont know what NIL is?
the HS isnt paying the NIL. nor or the boosters. It allows the kids to do true NIL or after they commit to a college do NIL
why shouldnt a William Schmidt be able to accept gloves from Mariucci for doing a couple social media post? or if you want to go currently....why should Jordan Griffin be able to do a deal with rawlings like he currently has? why shouldnt he be able to get bats and gloves for doing their commercials?
that is what we are talking about here. kids that have big social media followings being able to have brand deals. wtf is wrong with that?

that isnt what we are really debating though
we arent talking booster clubs paying such and such kid to go there....that still requires eligibility and there is no 1 time transfer yet, at least in LA.
we are talking about the ability to have brand deals.
example Jordin Griffin has a deal where he is in commercials for Rawlings and Luccini....should he not be able to do that? FTR he isnt popular because of where he plays HS, its because of travel and the social channels like youth prospects that cover those things. He isnt the only one either, go 13-14 year olds with big Social followings and they get brand deals.
want to force more and more kids to do only club sports like aau basketball, travel baseball, 7v7 football, club soccer......keep saying no to legit NIL

that could already happen. no rules against it in travel. it just might affect eligibility in HS ball
but again...if they want to have him in a commercial or make social media post with their car....why the hell shouldnt they be able to?

CFB can skirt around public funds being used for facilities.
Public High School sports can’t.
Add this to the list of steady slaps in the face the taxpayers receive daily.

do you think this is about high schools being able to pay students?
god damn yall are dense
this is about legit NIL deals. Its about high school players being able to promote companies on social media for free gear or doing a commercial or even becoming an ambassador for company.
or in LSU's case its about being able to front load a contract with NIL instead of rev share.
it is not about HS's paying kids.

Option clause on circumcision.

To be fair, this is all NIL was when it first started getting talked about for college student athletes.

100% but the thing is the NIL thing hit at the same time as the portal and transfer rules did. thats a game changer
even if LHSAA started offering the 1 time transfer rule....there arent many high school booster orgs about to shell out a bunch of money for the big time players and for every one of those it will be 4 players that are at big 5a schools not playing and will transfer to a smaller school
