New Jersey Nets want CP3...

This article is written by an A-Hole who only talks shyt about the Hornets when he mentions us...

this trade is AWFUL for the Hornets ...
But for a couple months I have been on the bandwagon of trading CP3, but ONLY to the Nets makes sense to me. And ONLY if Turner falls to 3 overall
A deal of CP3, Emeka for #3 overall ( Turner essentially) and Brook Lopez.
I know many disagree with me, but I STRONGLY believe the Hornets just do not have the resources to be able to put a supporting cast around CP3 to keep him happy enough to stay. And they basically have to do this in the next 2 years to keep him. I just don't see it happening. It's time to start over IMO.
DC, Turner, Peja, West, Lopez...Thornton, #11 overall. That team is young and still has two viable trade options to still improve the team. Plus you could keep Peja and West strictly for leadership purposes ( which is what I'd do ).
Nets would have Cap room still to sign a player or use a sign and trade involving Harris...

Why not? What resources do they not have?

cap space, trade options, high draft pick, coach. All are mediocre and some below mediocre.
Basically no cap room for 2 years. I think they may have around 8 million next Free Agency but that won't be enough IMO.
DWest -2nd best player on a team, slightly above mediocre
Trade options - Dwest, MoPete and Peja, only trade options mediocre
Draft pick -11th overall, mediocre pick. Hopefully it won't be but realistically it will take this player 2 years to develop
Coach - they HAD to settle for Monty.

Yea, I can agree with all of that.
Though i wouldn't call it "not having resources", that's why I was confused.

I think the Hornets would be in a good place by selecting Favors and George with their two picks. If and only if they could also unload Okafor also. That still seems like we are getting a weak deal but we would have
PG- Collison
SG- Thronton
SF- George
PF- West/Favors
C- Lopez
We would also be in great salary cap position with Mo and Peja coming off the books the following year.

Stupid trade...
15 of the starting PG in the NBA are quality starting PG
Kidd
Nash
Mo
Rose
Rondo
Billups
CP3
Deron
Westbrook
Curry/Ellis
Evans
Nelson
Parker
Brooks
Miller
Baron Davis
shite thats more than 18.
How many quality 5s are there in the league?
Howard
Bogut
Bynum
Ming
Kaman
Lopez
Thats it its a steep drop off after that. Lopez could be an anchor for front court for the next 9-10 years.
20 10 2 patroling the paint has won more championships than 18 10 5 has roaming the backcourt.
Can't teach size AND touch. Brooks for CP3 is a dumb trade

yeh me and you Continue to disagree on this lol.
We both like the trade but you always tend to WANT my Favors while I want Turner lol.
Which is perfectly fine, I think Favors will be a fabulous player in the NBA.
But I just have this philosophy that you can not be a serious contender in the NBA with out a legitimate STAR on the wing.
I just can't live with trading CP3 for two big men only. I know it may sound retarded. But I have to have the WING and the big man.

I think your missing the point for NJ would be. They could add Chris Bosh and then do a sign and trade with Devin Harris' contract and a throw in Keyon Dooling contract ( toatalling around 12 million). Then they'd have the MLE to sign another player and Courtney Lee and Terrence Wulliams.

basically sign Rudy Gay. Then sign and trade for a Chris Bosh for Devin Harris and an expiring in Dooling.
CP3
Lee
Gay
Bosh
Okafor
MLE, Twill, Yi.

I jsut dont think you can trade away a potential consistent 20 10 2 guy. Look at duncan. Guys like that come in one out of probably every 7 to 8 drafts. They are so rare; they anchor teams for decades. You have better chances of finding a PG that can run a team well than a true 5 putting up those numbers.
The only people I would trade Lopez for are The all NBA first team, Dirk, Melo, and Nash.

No I just don't think Turner will be there at 3.
I also could see Wes Johnson and Paul George being a crazy duo in at the same time if you have both te #3 and #11 pick.
You could play George at the 2 and Johnson at the 3. Thornton could be your sixth man off the bench.
PG- Collison
SG- George (6'9)
SF- Johnson (6'7)
PF- West (6'9)
C- Lopez (7'0)
Thronton plays the backup PG position and also comes in at SG also. Collison running the court with George and Johnson would probably be fun.

Or David Lee with the sign and trade.

yeh, see I just can't pull the trigger on the deal if it's Favors at 3 and not Turner. To me it's almost unthinkable. And it's weird cause I think Favors' ceiling could be Dwight Howard (defensively mainly) and Turner's ceiling could be Roy. But I want the inside outside combo so much more.

Undersized and no touch.
Great.
I see what you guys are saying, and these rosters are good, and better theoretically than what they have now, but I am jsut against trading true quality 5s. They are so rare that; thats why they are hardly ever dealt. True quality 5's have probably the longest tenures on teams more so than any other position.
We are seeing it on display in the finals.
6'10 280 Perks, 6'11 1/2 250 KG vs 7'1 260 Gasol and 7'0 290 Bynum. Doesnt seem like that much of a difference, but the lakers are killing the celtics on their off glass and getting second chances.
Im not trading my 7'0 255 20 10 2 guy

I mean, you tell LBJ that he can have CP3 at the point and David Lee at PF. Couple that with an MLE signing and Prokohorov JAY Z Brooklyn. I mean that's all total speculation and a lot has to happen for that, but the first step is acquiring CP3...
Posted on 6/9/10 at 2:01 am to MrWiseGuy
I mean I really wouldn't be pissed if we lose Paul and also ship Okafor if we end up with:
Favors/George/Lopez or Johnson/George/Lopez
I will be happy and get over the loss of CP3 as I doubt we could build around CP3 before he is a free agent.

Doesnt CP3 eliminate lebrons effectiveness because he is so relient on the P/R/Pop game? I can see it working if Lebron is the screener, if not that means Lebron is a spot up shooter or CP3 is..that diminishes their effectiveness
Posted on 6/9/10 at 2:13 am to EkarDrake
Two guys who are probably two of the top 5 players in the NBA at getting their teammates open and good looking shots. I think they could figure out an offense that could maximize both guys talents.
CP3 and LBJ are literally best of friends. Plus the up tempo style they'd play would literally be unfair. As they could with potentially that lineup slide LBJ to PF and David Lee to C AT TIMES and bring in TWill off the bench. That fastbreak offense is SCARY.
