That or nothing, I say. Anything less, and you just shouldn't bother.

Well, if he gave him ten and Tuna helped us win 9 of those, having him back for the run into the playoffs would be huge.

Saints are a scape goat. The league is setting their defense for the concussion class action. It's obvious now that the league is going to blame renegade coaches/ players as the problem.
Appeal is a total waste of time!

I think most important of all is recovering the draft picks. For two years in a row, this will hurt Tom Benson, the offense, & the fans who didn't do anything wrong.

Technically, we could make up/survive the SP/Vitt & Loomis' absences with a Parcells hire or interim staff promotion.

But it's kind of impossible to find 22 year olds off the street possessing a second round talent grade.

I'd say we've done a pretty good job of it

Has the NFL released any of their 10,000 pages of evidence from the investigation? The only thing I have seen is the report from the investigation. Did I miss this at some point?

They at least had to try.
I also read that they are using this meeting tomorrow and appeal to get a clear understanding of what contact can be had with the team and such.

--------

I am actually hoping they will reduce the penalties just a bit.

Would be nice to see Payton only suspended for the games and allowed to participate in the rest of Free Agency/Draft this year and then allowed to rejoin the team as soon as the super bowl is over. Suspension would be similar to the Loomis suspension but longer in duration.

I can't remember a situation were the nfl suspended a player/coach and banned them during the off season. (although i could be wrong, just can't think of one)

Thought this would be a somewhat reasonable reduction.

I agree.

But we seem to have a nac for finding 21 year olds in the fifth, sixth, or seventh rounds with first round talent. We also seem to have a nac for finding u drafted rookies and they outshine top round picks. I ain't worried

If he will hear appeal on Tuesday and rule by Friday, he sure seems to be making a mockery of the process. He needs to be brought down a notch on his arrogance scale.

I agree, but the appeal process is a foregone conclusion. I think it's so fast tracked because Goodell is going to use the opportunity to either lessen Paytons punishment and say never do it again. He made his point, i could see hi lessoning the suspensions. Truth be told, after the way our team rallied around Payton, Brees has spoken out, and our FO is handling their frickin business like none other I ain't even mad I just want the draft to get here and the season to be right around then corner. I'm more sick of hearing about the bounties Than i was after I heard the actuall punishments.

FTR, I fricking hate the iPad and it's shitty autocorrect feature, sorry for the mistakes but I don't have time to take the little fricking magnifying glass and fix them all. End rant.

They skip all that here in P'cola and just shoot you. Saves time and money.

Don't see the commish backing off anything.

But I wish the off season ban would be lifted for the sake of the franchises future.

I am glad he is taking his time to be thorough but unfortunately I don't see him backing off. But the FO knows what they are doing and they wouldn't go through it if they didn't think there was a chance. What annoys me is that the talking heads say he hasn't learned his lesson by trying to appeal it. Must be Failcon fans!

Goodell seemed pretty adamant on NFL Radio this AM that nothing would change unless new evidence was presented as part of the appeal. I would love to see the penalties reduced, but that seems pretty ominous.

Pretty lame that he would even suggest he appeal the ruling. Payton shouldn't have even bothered with the appeal, just to show he doesn't agree with the ruling. The loss of pay he is receiving is more than many of those convicted of white collar crimes. Rediculous.
