After all the injuries, suspensions, etc. 9 if you count Mingo, but Ken Adams was listed as a starter ahead of him.

Only Lonergan on the offensive line. New QB. New receivers. New defensive backfield. 2 new LBs.

LSU played 16 true freshmen, second in the nation.

LSU still went 10-2 and were a first down away from winning the SEC West and playing Georgia for the SEC Championship.

Next year, LSU will return between 16 and 18 starters and something like 36 of the 44 TWO DEEP. Also, there will be a top 5 recruiting class coming in.

The whole offensive line comes back except for Lonergan. Mett has another year of experience.

We thought that this year was the year but injuries and suspensions took away depth and experience. I am not trying to say "wait till next year," but the team should be MUCH better next year without doubt. They will be more experienced to be sure.

Ask our Western Div competition or any other national team how they would have fared if they lost both tackles, their RG, their starting TB, their starting OLB and a starting CB/punt returner/Heisman finalist all before the meat of the schedule kicked in and they had to play 4 top ten teams.

Someone who gets it. Dnt tell the tards on here. Lsu should never lose a game. Doesnt matter we lost 23 scholarship players. forget that the most important player on offense got hurt and the most important player on d was kicked off the team.

Good stuff! Thanks for posting this. These facts bring optimism for next year.

It's absolutely mind boggling to me, how quick everybody (including some of our fans) have written us off on still being an elite team.

No room for those kinds of facts here, bro.

Someone here has a sig quote something along the lines of "the ideal season for an LSU fan is for the Tigers to go undefeated, win all their games by 50, with the backup QB and the coach gets fired."

That's what I've been screaming. When you look at the year objectively, it's pretty amazing we accomplished as much as we did losing as much as we did.
Next year we should once again challenge for it all.

LSU
11-2
13-1
10-2

versus Bama's
10-3
12-1
12-1

Sure we lost the wrong game, but ovrall our five losses the past three seasons was to the #1 team (Auburn) the Sugar Bowl team (Ark) the NC (Bama in a rematch) Florida (Sugar Bowl team) and Bama(NC Bowl participant).

Bama's losses were to similar type teams, Auburn and Cam, LSU twice, SC, and A$M and Johnny football.

In that timne frame our schedule ahs been tougher, and welost the bigg ame or we'd be ahead of the gumps for national supremacy in that time period.

Next year is a big year for us. Senior QB and some holes to fill.

too long; makes too much sense.

ranter logic = fire Stud, fire Alleva, fire Roy King, fire the equipment manager (no reason), fire Kent Lowe (again, no reason)

Your overall point is true but you exaggerated it a bit. All new defensive backfield? You mean Reid didn't start the previous year?

All new receivers? They might not have started but Beckham got lots of playing time and the others got in just about every game.

Offensive line was decimated but the ones we ended up with played better than the ones we started with. Likewise new LB's were better than the old ones.

And now you want us to be optomistic because we have so many players coming back. Those same players that were somehow a liability this year? And if we lost so many unforseen players this year, cannot the same thing happen next?

Just keeping the facts straight.
