Shep should have been our qb, for sure.

Who would you have had Shepherd start over as a quarterback?

No offense to the Shepard, but I saw him throw in the spring game and it wasn't pretty.

The real question is if Magee should be our QB.

I can out throw Shepard without a doubt and I like Shepard. Now Magee would out throw me any day of the week he could chunk it. I was shocked that we never saw him throw the ball out of some wildcat sets. Don't know if he could play qb regularly or not but without a doubt you would have to respect his throwing ability when he lined up in the wildcat

Saw Shep throw in high school playoffs his senior year. Wasn't pretty, but he got the job done. Then in the AA game practices, he couldn't even reach the targets down the field. AJ is a much better QB than Shep.

Ruben Randle and John Diarse were better qbs in hs.

If Shep was that bad how did all the scouts have him as such a highly rated QB, not athlete

For three years, I watched Ty Magee run an offense and throw the ball. (albeit in HS, but) He is steady, doesn't panic. He knows when to tuck-n-go (and he can). He CAN read defensive coverages (something that we are obviously missing). Now, if AJ's first read is open, he's golden. If he has to think, we're in trouble.

Ehh im sure some thought hed play wr at the next Level. One of the reasons he came to LSu was we were going to give him a shot there while schools like UT said wr all the way.

We prob didnt use him to the best of his ability, he was a better threat as a runner. he def got creamed running the ball, was a lil soft, but if he made a guy miss he was gone. He passed for 1800 yds his sr year in hs. that isnt anything to write home about.

Again Ruben Randle had better passing numbers his sr in HS.

Claiborne had similar numbers.

Ware had better numbers.

Magee had better numbers.

Ronald Martin had similar numbers

Diarse had similar numbers.

Voorhies had better numbers.

Lots of guys played qb in HS and made the transition just fine.

I saw shep play in high school and never thought he would or should be college QB. AJ is a better passer.

Shepard was not a QB, he should have been used exactly like Urban Meyer used Percy Harvin, all purpose athlete, running and receiving, Miles never could figure this out, great athlete wasted while at LSU.

Think about who our qbs were when Shep was here. Now think about the fact that they still moved him to WR.

Jennings is FAR better. Jennings has a perfectly adequate arm. It's not great, but it's no where near the problem with LSU's offense. This is the fact that the offense is not yet second nature to AJ or the receivers. That's why, far from being cured, the problem gets worse with the substitution of Harris, strong arm and all.

on point,

I saw shep multiple times in HS, was a tremendous athlete, and he should have been used just like percy harvin, and again his talents were never utilized properly...its still a travesty we didnt use him more...

he wasnt a good passer by any means, but he had the same release as Jennings, meaning he floated the ball, he didnt get behind it...Jennings has the stronger arm but Shep could throw the short screens and TE crossing route pretty easily...but he was def a better running QB...

Because scouts don't know every damn thing. Why in the hell was Manziel rated so damn low? Why was Claiborne a couple of spots away from a 2 star. Why were both Logan and Brockers so damn low?

Shepard was an athlete all the way to people with any real sense. Now he probably could have played in a spread system, but he would have always been more of a running QB that passer.

I mean Jeff Driskel was the #1 ranked dual threat QB as well.
