I think it's Gautreau.

I thought it would be Godwin, but if it were gonna be him I think it would be done already. I can't see us hiring Corbin. The AD at State is a baseball guy and I can see him not wanting to have any distractions with the team until they are finished playing. I could be wrong though. Just my thoughts. I think the idea of having a first time head coach isn't that big of a deal in baseball.

Woodward isn’t hiring a first time coach for the LSU baseball position

It would be done by now if it was.

first time coach doesn't bother me as much relating to baseball.

I would agree 100 % if the AD were anyone but Cohen.

I wonder if a meeting with Cohen as AD is stopped every 7-8 minutes for him to walk out of the office and talk to someone.

I think the point is thats the total opposite of Woodwards MO

so tired of hearing this. its honestly exhausting.
The MO should be to find the best fricking coach you can. A good AD should be able to see a rockstar in the making.

justice is balance, they once stole our top assistant propping our HC up and now we'll do the same...
I'd actually be good with it over Bianco.
We can be snobby and insist upon HC experience but that can sometimes limit your field. A few years ago you would have said we're above hiring Vitello, now people want to throw 3+mil at him.

Well, your feelings about it dont make it untrue. Woodward is known for bringing in EXPERIENCED, successful coaches. Not saying that cant change. Not saying youre incorrect about Gautreau. Just that history doesnt suggest itll be him

Not if his interview isn’t until today.

No one is saying that is what Woodward "should" or "should not" do. They're just saying his prior hiring history doesn't suggest he will go that route.
Other than Steve Sarkisian, every major hire he has made as an AD has been of a very establish HC. Chris Petersen, Jimbo Fisher, Buzz Williams, Kim Mulkey.
The LSU baseball job might be the most desirable in the sport considering the program, the resources the school will commit to the program, and the willingness to pay the HC top dollar (or among the top). So it appears VERY unlikely Woodward would hire an assistant coach with no HC experience

LSU was Skip's first head coaching job not at a high school. Hiring the right assistant coach can pay huge dividends if you know what to look for.

I don’t understand why everyone thinks that the hire would have been done by now. Wouldn’t it make sense until after Omaha? If we can’t get a coach in the series still have plan B in place before pulling the trigger,

Corbin. The AD at State
I don’t think the AD at State could care less since Corbin coaches at Vanderbilt

Just within the last few months, assistant coaches were hired at Texas (football), Duke (basketball), North Carolina (basketball).
Plus, half of SEC football coaches were hired from the assistant coaching ranks.
It's not my preference, but it's dumb to completely disregard assistant coaches.

It shouldn’t matter. If you understand how intangibles translate in the workplace, you can draw confidence from other things outside of experience. That’s how good leaders work, anyway.
