We agree on all fronts. But the notion that the Taliban were just being quiet with Trump isn't true. To actually uproot the Taliban, you'd have to target much of Pashtun society. It is too ingrained.

This. All of this. The Afghan war was lost when these clowns decided Afghanistan wasn’t the primary theater and created a new war in out of whole cloth in Iraq. These people put 150,000 American troops into a war in Iraq at a time when we had 15,000 total in Afghanistan and wondered why they couldn’t find Bin Laden.
150,000 troops in Afghanistan in 2003-2005 may have buried the taliban for good. But we quit this theater almost immediately and it’s just been a game of which President will eat the sharia sandwich ever since.
That said - Biden’s team was embarrassingly wrong about how big a sharia sandwich they will be eating.

One thing's for certain: the Taliban didn't forcefully take over control of the entire country while Trump was in office. That said, I would agree that they surely weren't getting good marks for conduct during that time either.

Did you think you would ever beat the Taliban. This is the only thing that Joe did that I agree with. We were never going to win that conflict so why try.
I’m glad we are out of that shite hole. It truly is where nations go to die.
