It's a strange thing to see people who have claimed to be "free market" conservatives their entire lives now lining up in a futile effort to resist 21st century market forces and reverse free trade. It's an emotional strategy which, if successful, will only result in the flow of capital outside the United States and the eventual replacement of the US as the worlds leading financial power with China or some other burgeoning nation embracing globalization and making it work from them rather than nostalgically trying to cling to a past that can never and will never return.

The global market doesn't represent free trade for America. When other countries have far less restrictions than we do, our country is harmed by global free trade. We have to protect ourselves first, or we will end up like everyone else. MAGA

Globalization is a false god.

There is no way it can sustain long term.

STFU, we aren't stopping trade, it's about American's first, putting that advantage back to our markets, our jobs...

And I could counter that globalism has as much to do with the enrichment of a few as well as the exportation, redistribution of American wealth outside our boundaries.

Admittedly, we can't go back in time, but we can enact America first policies that at least level the field.

You can fight globalization and still have free trade. You fight things like currency manipulation, trade deals in which the terms of trade favor one country more heavily than the other, focus more on skilled labor jobs which we already have a comparative advantage, kill regulations that are costly to business and cause firms to be non-competitive.

While I don't agree with Trump's policy regarding tariffs, the welfare loss on a small increase in tariffs will be so small and spread out across so many people, as consumers, we'll barely notice it.

Yes, lets all turnover our sovereignty to the U.N. Overlords.

You indicate that you have no idea what this push for Trump to be elected is really about. No one is against trading with the rest of the world. We just want America to stop bending over for the rest of the world. If we continue down the rabbit hole as you seem to prefer, there with be no market to bother with. It is those of us voting for Trump that are why this country became what it was. We would not even exist today if it was originally lead by the likes of people that would vote for Hillary.

If there are companies outside of the US who decline that option and continue to use places like China to create similar goods at 1/4 of the cost, what is going to happen to all of those companies that "bring their jobs back"?

Hey 666 lover, you don't either, unless you are profiting from the loss of jobs, higher taxes, and over-regulation.

Yeah, globalization has been great for America. Twenty trillion in debt and climbing. More terrorists in the USA than ever.
China building more factories, and America building more land fills to fill up with Chinese built toys.

If we are not producing products, that the rest of the world is buying,we are out of the market already.
What does China buy from us? Chicken feet?
How long before they are on top of that too?

We need to relearn how to be self-sufficient,we have forgotten. Most of our citizens have forgotten even how to take care of themselves. It's sad.
