Obviously not talking about you but surprised they’re some respected posters trying to equate his contract to being a worthy player. Should be a fun thread to bump in a few months

Hes one of the highest paid RBs in the league, you dont drop that amount of capital on a piece player.
you gotta follow the money here, hes gonna get every opportunity.
now can he hold up is another question entirely, but he is the guy.

His ADP is being propped up by the system he is in, not necessarily his talent.
The physical talent is there

He had the second-fastest 40-yard dash time among running backs (4.37 seconds), had the most bench press reps among running backs (32) and had a top-5 vertical (40.5 inches) among all players in the 2014 scouting combine
A lot depends on if he gets a feel for the zone scheme. I would question SF paying big $ for him if they didn’t think he was a fit

He did look good after Cook went down last year.
He graded out at the top of receiving RBs, that will be his bread and butter in shanny system . If the up and coming SF OL can create holes for him, that will be lagniappe if we can increase efficiency w the volume

When the 2014 and 2015 Minnesota offenses were 14th and 13th, respectively, in run-blocking grades, McKinnon averaged 4.8 and 5.1 yards per carry. When they were 23rd and 28th in 2016 and 2017, respectively, McKinnon’s efficiency fell to 3.4 and 3.8 yards per carry.

Opinions on Jerick McKinnon?

I don’t think the naysayers are doubting the opportunity. It’s the ability to capitalize on it that worries me with McKinnon. I’m just not sure he’s very good
Don’t see a lot of success on the goal line with him, his modest career ypc suggests he’s neither a workhorse or a homerun hitter. The dude is gonna have to make hay in the passing game (he very well could). For some perspective- the first stat line is McKinnon. The second is another 5’9” 205 pound back.
This isn’t completely apples to apples since they’ve played in different systems...but is anyone fawning over (a more productive) Gio Bernard if he’s in San Fran? Maybe but for some reason I doubt it.

Honestly, I don’t need any. Breida will be the bell cow. Anyone looking for cheap player to bust out you can thank me later. Or take that 3rd down back and struggle to make playoffs. Only reason I made this thread is to bookmark. Good luck

I’m sorry You drafted the 49ers 3rd down back. It may work out for you

frick exactly are you bumping? You ain’t said shite in this thread
Rumple is the only person who brought somewhat of a case against McKinnon. Don’t care if anyone ends up right or wrong on a prediction as long as they say it with some chest.

Gio Bernard has torn both ACLs and does not possess the athleticism nor the strength of a McKinnon
McKinnon is more Deangelo Williams if you’re comping height weight skillset
See my above post. 4.9 ypc across his first 165 attempts behind good OLs

Come on Gyno....I could rob some stats from twitter but I choose not too. Going off gut and what I personally see and that has more value than these twitter bombs you can come up with. As I said, look forward to bumping this thread in a few months

ISO a reason not to draft McKinnon
Where does McKinnon finish among PPR RB at years end iyo?

I watched a lot of 49ers games last year. I had drafted Carlos Hyde in all three of my leagues last year and saw him become a pretty good back.
I have drafted McKinnon in all three leagues this year. He is a better PPR back than Hyde, and receiving RB is the bread and butter of that offense out there. I think McKinnon will outperform Hyde's production last year in PPR, which would make McKinnon a top 7 fantasy RB this year.

18-23 somewhere in there
I don’t think the money thing is a good argument. He’s not the type of back that will or can be forced into playing time if he’s not what they expect, even with the guarantees.

I just drafted him middle of the 4th round, 10 team PPR. I don’t love him, but I’m happy with that value. I may not even compete in that league though, as I picked AB first round, followed by Michael Thomas and Thielen due to everyone else grabbing RB’s a little earlier than normal. Didn’t want to reach!

He has the 2nd highest RB cap hit in 2018 behind Lev Bell
The money thing illustrates to me that they believe that in a worst case scenario, JM can still be an asset in the pass game for them. You cannot just sign a guy for $18 mil and operate at a sunk cost
As for your possible ranking of 18-23, JM had 1 game with more than 15 carries last season. Air work. He finished RB17 in PPR. Carlos Hyde wasn’t even good as a 3.9 guy and still finished RB8 on the back of 59 catches and 8 TDs

Where do you think he finishes
Posted on 8/27/18 at 10:10 pm to Lester Earl
Barring injury I think he carries a RB2 floor, top 24 PPR RB. Ceiling is top 10 Devonta freeman (5’8” 206) kinda season

So what’s the beef with my ranking
Posted on 8/27/18 at 10:20 pm to GynoSandberg
Freeman’s redzone efficiency is what put him into elite territory, McKinnon had to concede those touches to Murray because last season. Gon be tough for McKinnon to get there.

Nothing
Don’t think people realize he finished RB17 only seeing 150 carries. 34th most in the L

That’s why it’s a ceiling J
Only 35% of Freeman’s 37 career TDs were of the goal line variety. Lot of creating for himself, some would maybe even cite the opportune play calling and reference the TD regression that came with Shannahan’s departure.
