Not really a fail, but I didn't cook a lot of what I bought because half the family has the stomach bug

My rib roast didn't agree with my absentee cooking method, but it was still good. The ribs were lunch today and were really good.

My only fail was i was seasoning some tri tips with HC Black rub outside on the patio table. A chunk of seasoning lumped up in the bottle so i gave it a hard shake a giant cloud of black engulfed me all in my hair, ears, face and all over tge table and decorations. Thankfully nobody else saw it happen.

Yeah, somebody let my grandmother cook it.
Luckily the filets and ribeyes we grilled at lunch were bangers so I was able to use the ol’ I ate a big lunch excuse to skip the main course and go straight to the dessert table.

My Toll House Pie was slightly overcooked. I cooked it 5 minutes less than the recipe called for.

A little off topic, but my son pulled up all the carrots from my dad’s garden when no one was paying attention. Ate a lot of carrots for Christmas.

Not my fail but Sharons issue with a Marie Callendar pie is comedy gold. Comments read like soneone on the OT.

My wife didn't pull the rib roast at 125, it got to 130. Thankfully I walked by the thermometer and saw it and said something. Not a complete fail, but could have been.

Yes, I went out and bought everything to make a spectacular Jambalaya and ONLY asked my son-in-law to bring the rice.

How does someone mess up a pumpkin pie that comes out of a box that bad?

I did a beef wellington as well. Man, that's a tough one to get just right. Overall, it came out perfectly cooked, just a little soggy on the bottom. I think I needed to cook the shrooms down just a few minutes more. I would give myself an 8/10.

My only issue as well was the slightly soggy bottom.

Wanted to cook a couple racks of lamb for dinner. Two grocery stores didn't have any but butcher at one said they had some lamb shanks.
Run up to the store to grab the shanks after doing a good bit of research on how to cook them. Well, he didn't have shanks, he had the leg roast. The shanks are full of collagen and the leg roast is lean as shite. So all my research is now useless.
Searched and searched for ways to cook the roast but seemed everything was focused on a whole leg of lamb. Finally decided to just say F it, throw it on the smoker and cook it to 135-140 and hope for the best.
Smoker spikes to freaking 350 when I wasn't paying attention. Scrambling to get everything else ready for the roast that would now be done earlier than expected. It was about this time I learned the Greek yogurt for the tzatziki I was making was actually vanilla flavored, so that was just fricking great.
Finally cut the roast open and I absolutely nailed it. Delicious. Sides on point other than the tzatziki. But it sure felt like the entire meal was a failure that was somehow salvaged lol.

Sam’s or a halal butcher next time. They’re going through mutton like it’s going out of style (at least at Phoenicia in Houston.) and sous vide cast iron finished racks are devastating to all those that encounter them.
That yogurt fail… I can just imagine the WTF moment.
