Sandro's in Metairie is my go-to.

I love this place. I always wished they would move to a bigger/nicer location, but they seem to do very well with that they have going on.

These are my top 3 as well but in a different order.

N.O./Metairie:

1. Vincent's
2. Rest. Fillipos
3. Rizzuto's

I prefer Sicilian Italian versus Italian that maybe northern Italian.

Although I don't think the food is necessarily better than elsewhere, we are 100% DiGuilio's people. It was our first date 9+ years ago and remains a go-to. It isn't necessarily "decorated" or anything, but damn I love the atmosphere.
Funny, our first date was Pinetta's. We frequent both (every few months). Both are different and both have good food imo. Diguilio's is more diverse, and I'm willing to try more food there. I love the lively, almost party, atmosphere there too.
Diguilio's has many things that Pinetta's doesn't, but for me it comes down to the wine menu and the garlic appetizer.

Someone mentioned Pinetta's owner in this thread or the other one. There's one thing I know about that lady. She just don't care, and any repeat customer accepts that.

Place is not the same since Clint left. JMO

He has moved back to BR. Or at least did during Covid. Ran into him at a bar.

You’re right it’s not the same without him but it’s still very good.

TulaneLSU,

What about The Big Cheesy? It should make your list.

Gino's is the best Italian in the state

Don't get me wrong, I really like Gino's, but Sal & Judy's is superior.

The last time I got veal marsala at Gino's, it was two tiny pieces and the sauce was horrible. Grainy and tasted like some kind of hamburger steak packet gravy mix. Horrible

I haven’t been since Covid, but it has always been pretty good when I’ve gone.

Have you even been to Nino's

I have, my Dad loved it but I still would rank Gino's and Degulio's ahead of it.
