House Recipe Fancy ketchup is my favorite. It’s only offered through Sysco so you will only have it in restaurants.
I switch between Heinz and Hunts at home. But recently bought a bottle of Market Pantry at target to try. (Haven’t opened it yet) Basically I’m chasing the taste of House Recipe and seeing which brands are most similar to its taste.

Ketchup in general is a bottle of meh. I like to taste the food I eat, not cover it in thick sugar tomato sauce. Even fries with just a bit of salt are better without ketchup.
I'm ready for my downvotes!

Word. But ketchup is an amazing base for all kinds of sauces.
Ketchup + horseradish + worscestershire + lemon juice
Ketchup + mustard + brown sugar + apple cider vinegar + spices
Ketchup + crystal
Ketchup + sweat n sour
Ketchup + bbq sauce + mustard

This board turned us on to Trader Joe's. It's spicier (I don't mean hotter) than regular ketchup. But I find it gets overpowering if we eat that every time. We tend to alternate it with a conventional brand.
Of course, these days wit TJ's having such long lines, we haven't had it in a while.

quote:I normally use Heinz, but I did try a bottle of the French's a year or two back and liked it. Now I can't find it anymore. Do they still make it?
French's ain't bad and it also doesn't have the high fructose corn syrup

I've been trying to figure out what was wrong with you for a long time now. I get it now. You don't dip fried shite in ketchup, you do it the other way around. I don't even know what that looks like, but the mental image I'm creating is flat out disturbing
That's some state fair shite

When I was a kid, we always had Del Monte ketchup with Pineapple Vinegar. It was really good, but I don't think they use pineapple vinegar in their recipe anymore, so we haven't bought any in years. If I can find the brand, I need to try it again.
Now we use Heinz No Sugar added. Mine usually has a small shot of liquid smoke, or Worcestershire sauce or capers or soy sauce in that order. If with fish, sometimes I will go with horseradish.
I like the Whataburger portion control ketchup, but have not been there in over a year - maybe a year and a half, so it is only a fading memory.
I remember the days (1960's) when Kraft had those little plastic to-go boats with ketchup. They had aluminum tops you pulled off. The ketchup in those was great. It had a nice aluminum flavor I liked.
To the person looking for House Recipe Fancy Ketchup, Try Market Pantry Fancy Ketchup at Target. I think it is made by the same company.
