I can go either way on a burger.
But IMO a fully dressed poboy is the only way it should be eaten.

The fact that you can't understand why someone would want this on their sandwich really says a lot about you, assuming you're an adult. And none of it is good.

I love a good burger and I can eat it both with or without lettuce and tomato. If it does have lettuce and tomato though, two things are an absolute must. Ripe, juicy tomatoes and don’t even think about putting fricking romaine or leaf lettuce on my burger. Shredded iceberg or no lettuce, period.

Or, maybe, a Bacon, lettuce, & tomato sandwich?

Salt, fat, acid, heat

I don't put tomatoes on sandwiches or burgers because I don't like the texture or "wetness" but I do understand the chemistry of why it works. The acidity pairs well with the richness of the meat

The worst kind. Wet bread is the worst.

Because they are good on both? Nothing like a fresh cut tomato on a burger or sandwich but, instead of lettuce, I use spinach.

90% of the time I’m like you, no lettuce/tomato on burgers. Usually the only thing I add other than mayo and occasionally spicy mustard is pickles and sliced onion.

But when I do add lettuce/tomato I always toss them with a bit of Italian dressing, salt, and pepper.

It's kind of annoying when the tomato slides around, squirts out, or prevents the whole thing from staying together, but the taste works just fine. I actually prefer when the lettuce and tomato come on the side, separate from the hot stuff, because then I'll just eat the tomato by itself before I start the burger. My favorite burgers from restaurants tend to be messy, saucy, mostly ingredients except maybe some blue cheese or bacon jam, mayo. Yeah I should probably take the family to Chili's tonight.

homegrown tomatoes.

Almost every time one is available it’s on a sandwich or burger for me, but never a store bought one or from a restaurant/fast food place.
