Thanks and yeah looking for a nice dinner but not one where anything less than slacks and jacket makes me underdressed. We will be going out after and want to be semi comfortable

I’m not aware of a single restaurant in Louisiana outside of New Orleans where slacks and a jacket wouldn’t be acceptable.

Since covid, a lot of dress rules are out the window
they are not turning your business away

Stroubes could be a good option as well, IMO.

hat’s not a bad idea with Louisiana Lagniappe since my wife isn’t a huge steak person to begin with but loves seafood and pasta. Would you suggest Louisiana Lagniappe over Parrain’s?

Lousiana Langniappe would a great choice. Their steak is underrated in this city imo but I usually go with the Tounedos
Medallions of char-grilled beef tenderloin, set in garlic beurre blanc, topped with sautéed shrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat and Béarnaise sauce.

Someone suggested Robertos River Road. Depending on where you are staying its about a 15-20 min drive outside of BR but its absolutely worth it especially if your wife likes seafood.

Lol yeah I figured she could find some decent seafood options at most steakhouses in BR lol. I’m definitely leaning the Louisiana Lagniappe direction at this point

Louisiana Lagniappe is way better than Parrains.

Not necessarily a steakhouse, but I love the Steak and Potato Board at BLDG 5

They take reservations now too. I would make those as early as possible.

Since you are leaning towards Lagniappe if she orders either of these, she'll be so happy with you you'll be celebrating again in about 9 months.

Marinated Crab Fingers
Fresh blue crab claws marinated in a blend of fresh herbs and olive oil. $18

Fresh Fish en Papillote
Fresh fish topped with lump crabmeat and shrimp stuffing, baked in parchment paper and finished with a light garlic beurre blanc. $36

I passed throw Paducah, KY a few months back. Their Doe's is better than the BR one for sure. Louisiana Lagniappe is delicious.

Stab's is more expensive than Ruth's, go to Ruth's.

Stab's isn't bad at all, it just isn't better than Ruth's, especially for more money.

My go-to dish when I go. Second, is the tourneados.

You might want to look at Mansur's. Their chargrilled oysters are terrific.

I get it with the crab meat added and I'd second your opinion on this. They're very good there.

Lagniappe is probably the best restaurant in Baton Rouge.
Get there early though!

Flemings is my favorite for the dry-aged ribeye. Always feel like I can cook a steak as good at home as most places, but can't dry-age.
Ruth's is overrated to me.
Sullivans is not as good as it once was.

LL has some of the best seafood dishes in town, but the atmosphere is just ok. Mansur’s is really good as well and has a nice variety including char grilled oysters. The only way I like to go to Mansur’s is if I can sit in the bar area.

Roberto's has a really good steak too and seafood options

I don’t recommend Doe’s. Marginal steak. Poor salad. Best thing is the tamales. That is my experience based on the two times I went.

Ruth’s Chris will be the best steak. Good sides. Some decent seafood options.

Louisiana Lagniappe has the best fried oysters in town (add these as a salad topping), medallions of tenderloin is a very good dish, and the fish en papillote is very good.

Mansur’s has the best chargrilled oysters.

After talking to the wife and getting her opinion I’m leaning Louisiana lagniappe. She prefers seafood (shrimp or fish) or pasta. No pasta on that menu but I think she will really like the fish entrees and the crap claw appetizer. Y’all got any other suggestions in that restaurant genre. I like to look at options even after I’ve found a good one lol. Probably a flaw of mine
