253. I was in a holding pattern there for a bit, but looks like it's coming back down. I just stayed the course and didn't get discouraged. Starting to really notice a difference in how my clothes are fitting. I know it's not a lot of weight, but I'm glad I'm starting to see results. It kind of re-energizes you when you see concrete results.

Good luck guys.

So all I have to show for this damn diet over the last 10 days is a 2 pound gain.

Relax, diets don't work long term, just change your eating style and the results will follow. This sage advice comes from someone who has never actually followed it for more than 90 days.

myth,

what kind of exercise are you doing? i also think it might be helpful to write down everything you eat in a day. sometimes we grab a handful of this or a bite of that...that shite adds up. it helps to write it all down so you can go back and look at it. sit down and look up the calories at the end of the day. its all a numbers game. food and drink.

Jabber

I have been writing down every single morsel I eat for the last 210 days. There isn't a thing I put into my body over that time that hasn't been accounted for.

I just started exercising a couple of weeks ago because my blood pressure finally lowered into a healthy range.

I've just been walking a couple times a day and doing some crunches and few other things like that.

Myth, I'm in a similar debacle as you. For the past 2 months, I've been working out 5-6 days a week on the elliptical and just three weeks ago, I started lifting weights as well as doing cardio 6 times a week (I was trying to burn more calories than I was eating).

I've lost 1-2 pounds over the past two months. I almost always keep my calories under 2000, with the exception being game days. I finally gave up on it all this weekend. I wasn't seeing visual results, and I still had a good bit of fat that wasn't coming off. In fact, I couldn't even fit into my jeans when I could before the whole regimen started. But I ran upon this thread today, and now I have new motivation. Back to the gym.

Have you have your thyroid levels checked recently?

I officially weigh in only once a week. It keeps me sane!

Did that about a month ago and everything looked fine.

I think the problem is that I have now been dieting for 7 months. I may no longer be able to confuse my body with a high cal meal here and there. My body probably thinks the next potato famine has hit and refuses to come out of low metabolism starvation mode.

Do you eat the same foods over and over, especially for breakfast?

I know you're frustrated, just trying to help you out!

Couch To 5K! That's what I started when just dieting and walking wasn't enough. It has helped re-start the weight loss for me.

No change then? I went up a pound this AM... despite having some serious stomach problems and barely eating yesterday.

I'm supposed to run again this evening, if I don't feel better it's going to get canceled or just be miserable.

235.0 this AM. Been busy as hell with school this week but I've kept my diet. Gonna try to take a study break and get a few miles in this afternoon.

What are some of the BMI's for those starting at 220+ lbs? Must be really high?

My nemesis is beer, especially higher calorie craft beer. I dropped from 230 lbs to 208 lbs in about 4-months cutting calories (especially high glycemic foods), upping the daily fiber intake, walking and lifting weights. 195 -200 is my goal. We live in a very hilly area which stresses the legs a lot more than flat terrain. The weight loss and squats have greatly reduced the knee pain I had been experiencing especially going up stairs, but I have given up jogging for good. Biking has helped as well, if you ride ~ 1.5 hours per outing and put a decent amount of sprint work in you will burn a lot of calories and it's good to vary the exercise routine from walking, elliptical, etc. Giving up the weekly hot chicken wings was a major boost as well.

Same here.

Running again this evening... then probably time for a beer.
