323/240

I usually take weekends off with the exercise but ended up walking two miles both days.

Feeling much better now that it appears I busted through that damn plateau.

Have a great week dieting and working out everyone!

i ate so much halloween candy this weekend (kids trick-or-treated) at the campground that i'm ashamed. then ate a 5lb plate lunch from poches saturday and a wonderful dinner that included two servings of bread pudding at my mother in laws yesterday. so i decided i need a food detox for the next few days. i feel so sluggish and gross today. i'm making a trip to fresh pickens this morning and then i'm going to the gym.

277, down 31 since 8/1. 1300-1400 cals a day isn't bad at all if you don't waste them.

I mentioned a few days ago that I thought calorie burn levels on the charts were too high for things like stationary bikes, ProudLSUMom said that was why she used a heart rate monitor. So I bought a Polar FT7 and tried it out this morning.

After 30 minutes of huffing & puffing on the stationary bike, set on a 5 of 10 resistance, the HRM said I burned 156 calories, the charts for 30 mins of moderate effort say 441 calories. I believe the HRM. If you could burn 441 in 30 minutes on the bike you'd have to eat all day to keep up.

Thanks for the tip ProudLSUMom, the delusion those charts were giving me was very misleading.

Almost every site out there has different burn rates. It is best to pay no attention to them because there is no way to determine which sites are even remotely correct.

Plus one man's moderate might be a cake walk to someone else and impossible for another person.

And nothing burns 440 calories in half an hour. As you said, if moderate bike work burned that many calories we could all eat pizza all day.

I just try to do a little more each week and keep the calories and carbs low.

Oh

CONGRATZ on the weight loss.

Put on 3 after the weekend. Probably had a lot to do with a late night pizza and the ducks and rice and gravy my grandma made for lunch Sunday. Completely worth it though. Back on the diet and exercise now and should drop them again soon

You're welcome!

My best reading on calories burned was after riding a bike through Cade's Cove. 950 calories burned and that was not even the whole route! I pooped out and some honeymooners put my bike on their bike rack and let my husband and I ride in their car the rest of the way.

I wear my hrm when I cut grass too. We have a small yard so I have to use a pushmower and I burn more calories than I thought I was.

stayed the exact same weight this morning for my weigh-in.

im kind of happy though. Had a bad weekend. Saturday went to BBQ/Blues festival in lafayette square. had a pulled pork sandwich, some bourbon pecan gelato, and about 12 abitas. Then ate some quesadilllas at Lucy's after at about midnight

. Sunday had a birthday party with some good food, and i had a slight hangover, so i ate bad again.

So im glad to stay put. Got back on track yesterday with a nice jog and decent eating

Bump - with info

For comparison purposes per HRM:

Stationary bike, moderate effort, 30 min, 156 calories

Walking, 3.2 MPH, 28 min, 1.5 miles, 240 calories.

I guess I won't be wasting anymore time on the bike unless it's raining.

I've burned that and more on an elliptical, stairmaster, and spin class before. It's not impossible, you just have to bust it.

That's the one I have been using for 2 months, MyFitnessPal.com. The Calorie counting is fine, the exercise calorie burns are about 300% too high.

Alright. Big Al is in, but I can only step on a scale every other weekend. Last weekend I tipped the scales at 254. I walk a mile to and from work every morning, but I usually stop at a food truck along the way and eat ethiopian food twice a week. Since there are no forks involved, I should be good to go.

My goal is 205, my wedding weight 12 years ago.

I need to get a scale and get in on this. I've been hitting it hard for about a week now.

I'm just going to assume that I'm 260 right now to get it started. That should be pretty close.

My final goal is 185

I started in the same place with a goal of 180. I'm down to 236. It won't happen over night, find a plan that works for you and stick with it. Good luck.
