Moonveil Katana and the Meteorite Staff. I basically wear no armor so I can't take too many hits, but generally I can kite and punish with spells. I have enough dex that I'm comfortable rolling backwards/forwards on most attacks and getting a hit in if needed. I get wrecked in closed off rooms because I cannot tank to save my life. Luckily that's usually not an issue.

have you gone through the Volcano Manor questline and beat its final boss? The weapon from him is really powerful for str/faith builds

Started it a week or so ago. Very hard and very confusing. It will take me forever to figure out all these different aspects of this game.

Yeah that's what I'm using. Badass weapon, but gonna try to Respec to arcane because they're supposedly really vulnerable to bleed damage. I can always go back if it doesn't work.

I went through the first 1/3 of the game in a Paladin Sword/Shield build, then the next 1/3 respec'd into a Sword of Night and Flame build w/ heavy INT. I ran through everything up until Malenia. Couldn't get past her with that build, so I went full Faith with enough STR/DEX to wield the Blasphemous Blade and then wrecked the final 1/3 of the game.
I loved the ability to respec and the abundance of Tears available to make it easy.
I DID have trouble w/ the Elden Beast. That is the dumbest fight in any game if you're melee. It's almost impossible to get to him in time to get enough hits off to do anything before he slides his dumbass through the water to the other side of the map, heals, and then rains down that stupid star spell that's pretty much unavoidable. I had him combo it with the ranged holy arc he shoots a couple times and it was so frustrating. Worst boss ever.
When I finally downed him, we both died at the same time and I didn't get my Runes from him.

Yeah if you're not familiar with how Soulsborne games work, then it can be intimidating. But it's also easily the most accessible of the franchise because if you hit a wall you can just go plod around in the overworld for a while.
I freaking love this game.

For newer players I don't like that they hid an item essential to game progression in a random castle in an area people might not even make it to until they've way over leveled the area the item is gatekeeping. I think that is a small issue overall but also a massive oversight because some players don't want to look up what to do even though it feels essential sometimes with souls games.
I think the quest system could be a little more forgiving for newer players, but I've become accustomed to it myself having played most of the Souls series.

Wondering if you're talking about gaining access to AP?
There's an alternate route to get there w/o the item.

Finally beat The Beast earlier today. Went and found the rest of the somber dragon stones and finished up a few side quests with the help of the fextra wiki site and launched NG+
Time to head to bed before I get sucked into this shite again lol

Anyone running a New Game Plus yet? Gotta say….it’s kind of a joke due to getting so overpowered for the endgame in the first playthrough. One shotting everything

Yeah, I utilized some power levelling and did a bunch of item hunting before I jumped over to ng+.
I then found my way back to the grind spot in ng+ and now I’m somewhere around lvl 200. Absurdly overpowered.
I have taken some time off but I suspect I’ll need to go to ng+3 or so to equalize the difficulty if I’m so inclined.

This seems to be the official Elden Ring thread, so I hope no one minds if I ask a question here.
I'm getting bored as shite with 9.2 in WoW, and I keep hearing good things about Elden Ring. I haven't played any Dark Souls games before. Is this game relatively beginner friendly? Is the Bandit class any good for a beginner? Thanks!

For a Fromsoft game, yes. But that doesn't mean much. You will struggle.

Early, no. But arcane/ bleed is fantastic a little later. Since you're a beginner, you may want to start with a "tankier" build at first that can wear some heavier armor. You can respec back to a bleed/arcane dominant build later.

Finished my second playthrough and unlocked all the achievements. (I save scummed my first time through for 2 of the endings.)
I gotta say...the "bad" ending is my favorite.
Maybe I'm a psychopath.

Just beat her
Took about 40 tries.
Hardest boss since the NES days of the third Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden

Don’t want to spoil anything but can someone tell me about how much of the game I have left?
I just defeated Margott and made it to the forbidden lands. I hear endgame is hard but honestly I’ve been rolling through the capital without much of a struggle (lvl 101)
