Well I’ve been busy but I finally beat the Elden Beast with my melee build. Was a great game. I’m gonna take some weeks or months off before I hop back in. Don’t know to do ng+ when I try again or to start all over. Definitely want to play again with a mage or faith build

I finally felled the Beast as well. Idk if they nerfed it or I got extremely lucky, but he only did standard sword swings, not the swings that send out the energy wave or the glowing rings of death.

They made it so it doesn’t run away as much and use special attacks

I was wondering that after my fight as well....I thought I just got lucky with the RNG. I pretty much just had to worry about sword swipes and running away from the flurry of magic he shoots at you.

Good. It was nigh impossible for melee builds with how much he ran away.
And if combo'd Elden Stars with Wave of Gold you were fuuuuuucked.

I didn’t find NG+ to be all that fun. You can pretty much dominate everything until the end game stuff. I did it to get platinum but didn’t really enjoy it

I guess I’m glad I didn’t respec. I found the Explosive Ghost Flame spell today and it wrecks shite. If anyone has 30+ Faith, it’s worth it. That dual-caster idea I had…man, I don’t know. Some of the incantations are weak. I’m going to try them with different seals I have, like the dragon seal and golden seal. The Ekzykes Decay and Swarm of Flies are pretty decent.

This game is insane. I keep thinking I'm coming to the end so I try to stop and finish up some small things but then stumble into huge areas that I did not know existed. Last night it was taking a teleporter to Mohgwyn Palace area where the Lord of Blood is.
This has been one of the best exploration experiences in a game I've had since skyrim.

Same here. I’m at the last two regions and started back tracking to finish some stuff up. I found a dragon boss in Nokstella I didn’t know existed.

Thru Fia? He kicked my arse last night. My +9 winged scythe was hardly doing anything to his legs, and I suck at the head strategy for dragons. Noped out and resumed volcano manor. Ill come back to him.
Eta: wrong dragon. Mine was in deeproot depths.

Any other faith builds here? What incantations are you able to pull off in a legit fight? Other than the buffs, swarm of flies, pest threads, and flame of frenzy are the only ones I'm able to pull off without regularly being interrupted.

well beat the beast last night. wasn't as bad as i was thinking for a melee. 10 or so tries. all bosses are now dead.
so completed my first fromsoft game after two previous dipping my toes into it experience. about 110 hours into it. i really wasnt going to pick this up but after so many glowing reviews i had to at least try. i am glad i did.
i think the open world format of this one really helped me settle into it. the previous thing that really drove me away from others like bloodborne was the deliberate obtuseness of everything in a more or less linear path. go this way, because we say so, bang head against this boss, cause we say so. in this setting, it lent itself into a true sense of exploration and wonderment.
i dont think the challenge of this game lived up to the hype, and maybe this one is considered a bit easier. that being said there were some very good challenging moments. Malenia being the star of the show. The last time i had a challenge in a game of similar difficulty was the Valkyrie queen in GOW hard mode.
so maybe im a convert now. I'll definitely be in anticipation for their next offering, and maybe even (MAYBE) go back and try bloodborne again or the remaster demon souls. After countless reviews of 10/10, i would have to concur. 10/10.

I believe there are two. I haven’t done her quest. This was the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella see through the Ainsel River Well in Liurnia of the Lakes.

I might try a Faith run on NG+. Running an Intelligence and mixed in 30 faith to use some incantations. The golden seal +6 helped with those incantations a lot.
Anyone who is intelligence, I’ve used all of the staffs I could get my hands on (Carian Regal Scepter, Lusat’s, and Azur’s, Meteorite). Lusat’s hits like a damn freight train. Easily the best one I’ve used so far, and the other two aren’t too bad. I recommend getting Lusat’s though.

Took about 20 tries but I finally got the first elden lord dude. I have tried the Nessie for about 25 tries and get him to about 10% left before running out of magic with this build. Hunting a way to bolster my defense or increase my magic potential to squeeze 10% more out of this character.

I have all those and exclusively use Lusat, night maiden's mist can destroy entire rooms with it and terra Magicka
I have that and either Moonveil or Dark Moon Great sword depending on where I am
Upgraded shield that has 100% phy and 75% magic defense in other hand

My daughter runs faith and sword of night and flame.
She uses a lot of the dragon incantations and she wrecks shite
