Damn that’s quick. I’m about to do my 5th after I finish up DS3 and knock out the DLC. This Cinder guy is an animal. These Fighting Cowboy videos have been a huge help.

All achievements finished. Last playthrough took 3 hours
Now, I'll need to run ng again for a dlc-ready character. But that's not happening until dlc is announced.

I bought Elden Ring when it came out last year but quickly realized my old gen Xbox couldn’t run a game of this magnitude on it. Got a next gen last week and spent this weekend learning the ropes. This is my first DS game and I went in blind which led to me quickly realizing I had no idea what the frick I was doing. Watched a few YouTube videos on basic mechanics and where to pick up certain items. Ended up doing the rolling ball farm and leveled up to 40ish. Was able to finally beat that bastard Margit after getting my shite kicked in countless times. But I finally am starting to feel comfortable with the game and weapon play that comes with it. Having played The Witcher 3 and Skyrim countless times I felt like I had a good feel on what I wanted my build to be and I am finally growing into it. I am currently exploring Stormveil Castle and having a blast running into all the weird and spooky shite in there. I’m glad this game has lived up to the hype

If you learn them well and learn the fromsoft way, everything else just feels...kind of less. So sorry and congrats.

Just started this game. Did I screw up by killing Yura? Looks like she had her own quest line. Dropped a sick arse Nagakiba that I've been using though.

Not really.
Especially doesn’t matter if you like the weapon yura dropped.

I’m on my first playthrough. Just got past Malenia. Really dont want the game to end yet so i’m scouring the map for any caves or field bosses i’ve missed. I will say though, I am excited to start NG+ with a different build, and to complete certain questlines i inadvertently locked myself out of.

Speaking of questlines, is there any way to keep track of who you have spoken to and what they have told you to do? I feel like I’ve spoken with a dozen npcs and each has told me to do different things but it is impossible to keep track of. I got lucky and bought necklace from that other Tarnished in the Laernia lakes for that girl because I had just spoken to her and could remember the request. But all the others I can’t remember a thing about what they have told me to do.

To be completely honest, I would highly recommend looking up the NPC questlines on the Elden Ring wiki. Because like you, there’s no way I could remember who I talked to or what they specifically wanted after getting sidetracked and exploring for a while.
One thing I will say - my favorite questline is easily Ranni. Do yourself a favor and make sure you complete that one. It’s long, very involved and a lot of fun! If you havent found Blaidd yet, you can find him in Limgrave and that will get things started, since he is an important part of Ranni’s questline.

Pen and paper is about the only way I could think of.
It's better to just use a guide for the side quests.

My first experience with Fromsoft was actually sekiro. So when i played ER for the first time as a melee build, i almost uninstalled. I restarted and decided to do an intelligence (Magic) build so that i could ease myself into the game mechanics with ranged combat.
Give that a try and it will be a much better experience for a beginner (at least it was for me).

for my second complete playthrough, I used my ipad goodnotes app and wrote down notes as I went. Also used the game's Fextra wiki page quite a bit.

What level did you guys go to the castle in caelid?
Posted on 2/11/23 at 9:34 am to whatiknowsofar
I followed the Fextra game progression map and was usually on the lower end of the recommendation for the zone. I was lower 60s in Caelid.
