Why? Price?

Dude I don't think this thing breaks 30M units sold at a four-figure price. That is far too large a mental hurdle for the vast majority of the population.

Dont disagree..just curious his reasoning. I dont know how they are going to sell the value proposition for console gamers. PC gamers ..perhaps.but that not going to get them gang buster sales. My 25 year library of Xbox games has kept me committed to not abandoning the ecosystem yet. And Im one of the few folks that still considers GamePass a decent value for how I consume games.

Steam Machine will be out this summer. Think I’ll go with that.
Steam Machine may already be dead. hardware costs and limits have really set it back. Also, if the Xbox can run Windows, it has an advantage over SteamOS in regards to DRM issues.

Yes. I’ll just play the switch with the kids. I haven’t played the series x much outside of getting fifa every year. I’m just not really into modern games. 500 bucks isn’t bad for playing gamepass and fifa for 5 or 6 years but I’m not paying 4 figures to play a few fricking video games

Yep and you represent the bulk of the gaming public.

Price $1000 range unlikely to exceed $1500
Hard to imagine that price point selling well, but I guess we'll find out.

I'm not sure PS6 will be much cheaper.

It’ll really depend on what the silicon and DRAM situation is like by the time production starts.
Regardless I’d expect it to cost no less than the current PS5 pro.

"Johnny what do you want for Christmas?"
"Project helix! It's only $1500 mom!"
Yeah it won't go well

will be equivalent to a 5080 PC
I hope this turns out to be true, that will be an absolute steal for a gaming PC and an added bonus would be to have EA College Football on a PC.
Side note: Would the PS6 be the console of choice for poor people?

If people are willing to buy gaming PCs for their kids I don't think this is much of a stretch really, but still that is quite a price tag.

But the savings on game pass will make up for it…

That would be the Nintendo Switch 2.

When you look at what PC's for gaming cost, $1199 isn't bad especially if you don't have a PC for gaming.

Video cards ain't getting cheaper anytime soon and if you have an older build like myself (RTX 2080) then this appears somewhat attractive.

You can get a $1200 PC that can play games and last longer

That's my point. No one is buying gaming PCs on a regular basis for birthdays or Christmas

Yeah my X box never gets played. I bought it mainly for Starfield and hated that game. I play pretty much everything on my ps5.
