Without FO3, you don't get New Vegas or FO4; you don't get the resurgence in popularity; hell, you don't get the show either.
All 3 games are awesome and have their faults in their own ways.
The fallout games are a lot like the universe within them: They are beautiful, flawed, charming, full of bugs both literal and not, daunting and wonderfully cracked up. Greatest gaming series ever IMO.
Play them all, deal with the bad parts because the good parts are some of the best in the world of games.

My only issue with New Vegas is when it first came out there was this weird "hipster" kind of mentality where if you didn't proclaim New Vegas superior in every way to FO3, you were "not a real fan."
Those same people hated it when I pointed out that New Vegas used the same engine and most of the same art assets as FO3, meaning they could focus on tweaks and story a lot more than the FO3 creators could.
I wasn't involved in said fandom, but the "real fan" talk revolved around NV being much more similar in tone and level of freedom to the first two games, while FO3 felt like a significant departure in tone and level of freedom. To many people who loved FO1 and FO2, FO3 was a major disappointment. That doesn't make it a bad game, in the same way that fans of Morrowind being disappointed in Oblivion doesn't make Oblivion a bad game. But the logic behind the reaction isn't unreasonable.

I wanna play new vegas again. I played one playthrough after release and though it was pretty bad compared to 3 which ive played through probably 7 times or so completely. I venver played any of the expansions for new vegas or anything. It was that bad from what i remember. i dunno

The DLC was excellent. Highly suggest.

Using the TV show (set in New Vegas) to advertise a remaster for Fallout 3 is such a Bethesda move

The tv show is said to lead into the next game. Cooper Howard is in the Burning Springs dlc for FO76, which is set in Ohio, so we know he goes east after the show. Maybe he has some connection to the capitol wasteland.

Fallout 3 doesn't need a remaster. Give me exact remakes of 1 and 2 in the 4 engine.
