Marco Penge and Si Woo reportedly turned down 8 figure offers to join LIV in order to stay on the PGA tour.
That means that either (I) the word on the street is the competitive product is so bad that some guys are willing to turn down $10m to not play there, (II) part of the 8 figure offer is equity take in the LIV teams which guys are starting to realize is worthless or (III) the PGA equity thing is real enough that guys are thinking the money will be more or less a wash down the road.
Probably some combination of the three. But regardless I think a big reason LIV has had so much trouble poaching established PGA players the past couple of years is the establishment of the equity program. The players at least seem to think it’s pretty valuable.
Most golfers still want to play in majors, and it's almost impossible to qualify for majors while on LIV unless you carry with you some qualifications upon joining.. That's why they are toast in the long run unless they can get OWGR points for their events.

with the changes they've made, they'll get points. But the question is how many? DO they get points comparable to the DP World Tour or worse than that? Strength of their fields is still going to be a very relevant factor when determining how many points a LIV event is worth.

They will be getting OWGR points eventually. Wasn’t huge news, but OWGR gave an update on their application. No decision yet, but it seems likely they will get points

better get my LIV New Orleans tickets now before they sell out...
I know you’re joking, but LIV Nola will still have a better field than Zurich & tickets just went on sale
Grounds passes for $23-30 each per day

Have heard that rahm really regrets going to LIV.
Will be interesting to see if he makes the move now or not, but it seems like tour people are confident he will return.

Yea and Rahm said he would never play on LIV.
I’m just telling you what people who work for the tour are saying. They were right about brooks, and my gut says they will be correct about Rahm.

Yeah, he’s not going any where this year.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if Rahm goes back to the PGA Tour at some point. It will be interesting to see what the DP Tour decides to do with LIV golfers & I’m sure that will have a big impact on Rahm’s decision in the future

Holy shite Bryson sounds like he is ready to jump the frick out the LIV plane now without a parachute

The golf version XFL is crumbling. And I like it.

Y’all are really overreacting to a guy who is no longer in the top 150 of professional golf rankings & was the 31st ranked player on LIV last year

Bryson and Rahm sound like they’re hostages in that video Jesus. Someone check to see if they were signaling SOS in Morse code

He's ranked that low in the OWGR? Gee, I wonder why.
As far as his tournament play goes, Brooks has always been a very weird player. He has by far the fewest total tournament wins for a guy who has won 5 majors. He is truly a majors or bust player. He's won more often on LIV, but while on Tour he had 5 majors, 4 other PGA Tour wins, 2 Japan and 1 in Europe. That's crazy.

I am not going to act like this is a big get for the PGA Tour. Maybe Brooks becomes a better player this year with more motivation to earn spots in tournaments, but I won't count on it.
However, this is a big loss for LIV. Brooks was the captain of one of 13 teams on LIV. He still had an entire year left on his contract. One of the faces of the league gave up millions of dollars to leave the league. It's not a good look.

They are all under contract. They can't move right now, and the PGAT knows it. Even though they said it was a "one-time offer", the Tour's plan for Brooks is a message to the others: when the time comes there can be a path for you.

Yep, way bigger loss to LIV than gain for PGA. The PGA weathered the storm and after seeing how miserable the LIV players are, I don’t think many PGA players will jump ship in the future.

Yikes!! Are Rahm and Bryson political hostages at this point?
Also, out of the three, you can tell Cam is the only one that doesn’t regret his decision.
