If you just playing with friends for fun I say take whatever you want. If you playing for money then you should follow the rules.
I normally have my other putter in the bag or maybe a wedge my dad gave me to try. If I’m playing for anything I just wouldn’t use it and tell the person. I don’t really ever play for money anymore so don’t really worry about it

It's only a problem if you have a 14 way divider in your bag and have to cram two clubs into one.

Always have extra wedges and two putters to mess around with, unless I’m in a tournament.

Was one club too many until I lost my PW. If I were playing in a tournament I would drop the 3 iron and keep the 3 hybrid.

When I'm playing seriously, I carry a 2 iron and a 2 hybrid depending on the course. I drop whichever I don't need for the day. if it is dry, the 2 iron goes in because I will run it out longer, if it is wet or need some short run outs then the hybrid goes in and the other will stay in the car for the day. I don't normally even use the 14 I have in there so I don't feel compelled to carry more.

I carry 15 only because i keep a 5 iron for punch shots whereas I use a 5 hybrid for full shots. In a tournament I ditch the iron and punch with the 6.
