The Morikawa pick is the one that really bothers me. I just have an irrational dislike for Cantlay. May as well put him on the clock now.

I don't understand Morikawa because has one of the the worst course fits and is playing the poorly (in relative terms to the other options) at the moment. That's not a good combo. But he is a great ball striker and at least is accurate off the tee, so they probably needed him on there for foursomes.
I was really hoping to see Cam and Keegan taking the first tee shots Friday morning, but totally get why Keegan made the decisions he did.

Yep.. I'm not loving the Morikawa pick. Hope it works out

I think Cantlay has played very ordinary golf this year until his putter perked up at East Lake. I understand why Keegan picked him, but I would’ve been ok with McNealy or even Keegan instead. I expect Cantlay will disappoint, especially if teamed with Schauffele who is not in form at all.

Don't forget he is also a terrible putter.

So will everyone cry for McNealy like they did for Keegan?
I think the only person who could have been not picked for him to play would've been Morikawa. Other than that, the picks make sense.
Now, I hate Cantlay and despise watching him play golf, but he's a good RC player.

I am not sure McNealy is a good fit for Bethpage. You need someone strong to handle that rough. I personally would have gone with Gotterup.

Morikawa’s best quality is his approach game, so would be best to pair him with a premium putter who’s also great off the tee.

Cam Young's SG pentagon seems to heavily favor driving distance and putting.

Disagree with both these statements. Cantlay has been a pretty good Ryder cup player for the US. I think the guy getting a free pass is Morikawa.
Morikawa’s game is in the gutter, he can’t putt, and he’s firing his caddy every week. He needs a wake up call before bethpage.

I am trying to figure out the best way to set up the teams, and honestly, I think you put out the same 4 guys for alternate shot both days then have the other 8 focus on best ball.
Maybe Morikawa/Burns and Griffin/English in alternate shot, then match up the other guys for four ball based on their fits for getting birdies (by trying to not have too much overlap)?
Only downside I can think of is you have the alternate shot guys who aren't playing their own ball leading up to singles. I am sure there are way better ways to think of this, but in theory it sounds good to me

Maybe the play is to irritate the shite out the opponent.

You can adjust best ball a lot easier than alternate shot.
Think you stick with the same alternate shot teams and change up best ball, especially if there are certain guys you want to rest before singles.

Cantlay bugs people but he’s a freaking gamer and shot maker who is hot right now. You have to pick him. Look what he did last year under insane pressure and look up the story about how Wyndham got him fired up before that round.
Only pick that is up for debate is Morikawa and the only person I’d put in his place is Bradley playing. Have to hope he steps it up and brings his best.
McNealy feels like another Henley or English type pick. Don’t need 3 of those guys in this team.

A majority of,the picks are the same guys that got raped in Rome. Keegan should have picked himself over a few of these guys.

Replace himself with Sam Burns

Why are you being so dumb?
Cantlay has been an excellent RC player and his current form is pretty damn good as well
I loathe Cantlay. Maybe my least favorite player in the world at the moment. But he should be on the team. Has been solid in Ryder Cups, playing well currently, and he's infuriating to play against.

Morikawa is crap right now and in a bad head space. I think this was EASILY the worst pick by Captain Keegan.
