re: Woods vs Hybrids, What's in your bag?

I decided to try one of my wife’s tactics to get over a bad day last week.
I had a shite day at work so to congratulate myself on not losing my mind, I decided to treat myself to a new 3 Wood (Callaway Rogue ST Max) cause I cringed taking the prior 3 wood out of the bag. I’ve hit the new 3 wood 4 times and I absolutely launch it and it’s dead center. Confidence can make a difference IMO. I’m in love with the damn thing. Best part? I didn’t even bother hitting it. I grabbed different models and did a waggle or two and made the decision solely off of that. I like most golfers tend to over analyze and pick everything apart. Sometimes just going simple with a gut feeling may be what ya need.

I can’t seem to find the “scramble” handicap index on the GHIN app.
Do I just add 4 and submit?
Why do I get more shots in a scramble?
I’m confused, but I’m willing to adjust my index up if that’s the way it works.

Sarcasm vs Sarcasm, I like it

That's a premium option. It's only to be used when invited to a member-guest or scrambles.

23* original Adams Tour. It's firmly in the bag and don't care if there's hotter things out there because it's for the 4iish slot.
19* - I go back and forth between a newer Mizuno that I hate and an older Adams Super Hybrid. I hate this slot and am still searching for the perfect club.

I have two PXG hybrids that I play. The 17 degree, I have adjusted it down to 16 to basically replace my 3 wood. I have a 19 degree as well that fits my gapping well as a 3I replacement. PXG hybrids are the first I've found since the old Adams hybrids that don't cause me to draw the hell out of the ball - they have a setting that allows it to sit a couple degrees flat which is what my irons are - 2 flat.
It will be a long time before I replace these hybrids. They are my favorite clubs in the bag.

Lets just say that I have an abundance of headcovers in my bag.

Roughly about a 12.
I have 15* 3 wood, 21* 7 wood, and 24* 9 wood. Lots of people are surprised by my 9 wood because I'm only 34. It's so much easier to hit than a hybrid, especially from the rough. I've always been a decent ball striker with my irons so I go 5-PW.

I have a 7w in my bag that I use as my 225 club. Love it.

4.1 HDC
Driver TSI
15 degree Rogue ST
18 Degree Rogue ST
The Rogues just replaced a three wood steelhead plus and a seven wood steelhead plus.

Does not make any since if you are a 12 handicap. You must not hit those clubs towards the whole.

Lol what? Averaging an 85 because I’m not an elite putter doesn’t mean I can’t be a good ball striker. Let’s be honest here, most people don’t record strict scores so I’m sure that’s why you’re confused.

This makes zero sense.

Bumped to ask another question and update. I have not yet bought any new woods or hybrids.
Looking to keep the 3W-15º as is for now, but thinking of replacing my old 24º hybrid with something newer from 19-24 degrees. Debating getting both a 24ish degree hybrid first to replace my existing one (to carry 180ish) or a 20ish degree wood or hybrid (to carry 200ish) because I do not carry 180+ and straight consistently with my 5i and do not carry a 4i.
3W is a Taylormade RBZ 15º with a stiff flex, but I forget exactly what the shaft is. About 4 years old. I am carrying about 205-220 say 75% of the time with 225+ the other 25%. A few occasions I've carried 240+
Hybrid is an old 24º Ping G10 that I bought second hand from Edwin Watts years ago, I believe it is stiff flex also but I don't have it in front of me to check. It's quite old and and getting knicked up pretty good. I carry it anywhere from 160-180 depending the day but last several months seems closer to 160 which I feel is the club losing it's pop as I usually do make solid contact with it.
I have a few questions:
1) How important is a Wood/HYbrid fitting? (And yes my driver & iron fittings benefitted me) Driver fitting with best numbers being a Callway Epic Max LS with a True Temper Project X HZRDUS Smoke-IM10-50-5.5-0.335 R flex shaft. Iron fitting landed me with Ping G430, shaft is Ping-AWT-2.0-Black Iron-R Regular flex.
2) For those that have Drivers different from your irons, are your Woods/Hybrids typically same brand as either? As you can see from the fittings I am just a regular flex and don't have a high swing speed, so I would stick with that.
Avg yards:
Driver= 245
3W= 215
Hy= *170
5i= 180
6i= 170
7i= 160
8i= 150
9i= 135
45º= 120
Also would like to replace wedges one day, mainly for consistency from on to the other. I've never bought a set and have only purchased them 1 at a time when I found one cheap and they are each made very differently so I have to adjust swings quite a bit.
50º= 110 (old Ping G15 blue dot U-wedge)
56º= 100 (old cleveland)
60º= 85 (old warrior)

This sounds like the perfect situation for a 7 wood. A Ping G410 or G425 should be easy enough to find without breaking the bank.
Posted on 1/4/24 at 10:28 am to Doug_H
Those that carry a 3W, do you use it more as a baby driver or do you hit it off the deck?
Posted on 1/4/24 at 10:33 am to LSUlefty
I rarely hit mine, but it's mostly a tee club for holes where driver just doesn't fit for some reason. There's several like that on the course I play. I do hit it from the deck, but it has to be the right situation. I need perfect lie, low trouble, and a reasonable belief that it's a better option than just playing to 90 to 110.
