Garmin "watch finder" is directing me to the $900 epix line. Can anyone recommend a garmin watch for me? I want to track workouts and sleep mainly. Workouts consist of interval training, weights, runs, and swimming. Has anyone bought the solar charging models?

Fitbit for under 100 bucks will do all that and then some.

I have a Fenix 6 and absolutely love it. I use mine to track weights, running, mtn biking, snowboarding, paddleboarding, hiking, daily steps, and sleep. I had a fenix 5 before that did all that also. I got the 6 because the 5 crapped out on me.
They keep a charge for damn near a week and can fully charge in about an hour so I dont see the need to pay extra for solar charging.

I don’t think the epix is quite that much, but still pricey. I think nearly ever Garmin watch can track runs, workouts, and sleep. Look at Forerunner 255 or better, Instinct 2, or maybe even the Vivoactive.
One thing to consider, the solar models are bulky. Probably not comfortable to sleep with.

I have the Garmin Instinct and do all of what you listed with it.

$1900 is insane for what you seem to want from it. I have the Garmin Vivoactive 4 and I love it. It does all that you need it to do for $200.

What does a garmin do that an apple watch can't do? I was looking to get one or the other soon.

unless you are tracking activity over 20+ hours don't think solar is worth it nor do you need to spend $$$ for the asks you are looking for.
all brands have something to fit your needs probably at $250 or less

You should be able to do that with most smart watches.
I got the Forerunner 245 Music and it can do all that you asked about for just over $200

Battery life, for starters. I like the phone interface and data provided better as well. Garmin is a running watch that can work as a lifestyle watch. Apple Watch is a lifestyle watch that can GPS track a run.

Fenix 5x Plus going on 4 years now. Wear it every single day, gets beat tf up and still going. Battery life is great, I track all my activities like walking, running, weights, working out etc. On running I like racing my own ghost from a previous run. I also track my hunting treks so I can either go back the start or pull it up later and go to the spot. I have a Garmin scale that charts all of my weigh ins so I have years of historical data which is really cool. I also download a Spotify playlist to the watch so I can listen to my headphones without my phone when I'm on a walk, run, at the gym etc.

I have the Garmin Fenix 7 pro, 47mm. It might be the coolest thing I have ever bought, gadget wise. It seems to be a huge upgrade from Whoop on the biometrics, which I had for 2 years. Garmin needs to take note of the whole paralysis by analysis thought though, because there are way too many types, and versions of those types to choose from.

Garmin Instinct sounds like all you need. I have the Fenix 7 and use a fraction of the options, but its cool to use to golf app on the course.

Instinct 2 here. Simple and has everything you need. I don't have the solar but my brother did and he said he still had to plug it up to charge.
