For what reason? Are you bad at squats? Disappointed with how little you can lift? Get too sore or fatigued after them?

This was my exact thought reading his post. I love squats and I’m loving Squatober.

I’ve tried to get my buddies to join in with me but they all hate squats too. I know the reason my best friend hates them and it’s because his squat form is garbage. He never wants to put in the time to fix his form either.

Hating squats and thinking that “abs” are ever something anyone should think about are both symptoms of the same thing.

You need this man in your life.

Try box squats. I'm going to switch to that next month because I like them more than squats for now. No reason why, probably just a different exercise. Also, to hell with lunges. My goodness those are torture to me. I'd rather have 500 on my back than do lunges with 10lb dumbbells and cry at the end.

The only people that think squats are cool are those hippo women that go to CrossFit

It doesn’t matter how much you can squat, you’re still unhealthy at 50 bmi. If it tastes good spit it out

ATG slant board will fix all his issues. Makes squatting more enjoyable. Takes out worrying about ankle mobility.

I competed in bodybuilding. Never did one single ab exercise. Abs are done through diet, and performance enhancing drugs. I got abs from clen, t3, hGH, and massive doses of anabolics not from sit-ups. That’s just reality. Bodybuilders aren’t out there doing crunches

I’m with you. I enjoy a good burn. I’ve got weird strength. For instance, my 1 rep back squat is 365 but I can rep out 335 for 8 to 10 reps.

I’m pretty much the polar opposite. My 1RM is about the same as yours but I struggle doing 295 after the 5th rep or so my body mechanics also suck for squats because I’ve got long femurs. It’s probably my most disappointing lift when compared to the others.

All of the above. It tires me more than any other exercise.

Dude, lunges are the devil. By far my least favorite lift and the one that makes me literally need to vomit

I could never do another Bulgarian split squat or walking lunge and be okay with my life

Girls aren't interested in power lifters. Girls are into guys with abs. If you are married, your wife doesn't care how much you squat. She only wants you to look good.

Not true. All she cares about is how much money you make

Chalk me up as another that skips traditional squats. After two rounds of PT for disc issues, one cervical and one thoracic, I was told not to put more than the bar and a plate on each side on my back. I do heavy dumbbell squats instead. Sometimes goblet, sometimes just resting them on my shoulders, sometimes holding down by my side. Varying up the stance to hit different areas of the legs.

I'm more focused on endurance and stamina and riding the bike for longer periods than I am how much I can lift. Lunges, DB deadlifts, DB squats, and a few other movements I can do without a barbell is all I do. I would say my quads and hamstrings are plenty strong for what I need them for.

If you don’t start focusing on lifting and getting stronger you’ll get beat up someday because you’re weak.
