Is this stuff worthwhile? I started seeing a lot of hikers using it last summer, but when I researched this, it seems like there isn’t a lot of hard data to support it.

It seems to be all the rage in beach volleyball. I would think you have to know what you are doing to apply it correctly to get any benefit though.

Some people love it. I'm not on board just yet.
It is supposed to dilate subcutaneous blood vessels and lymphatics to help with blood flow. But my thought is that it has a placebo effect and the athletes seem to benefit. So if that helps them out, then by all means keep using it.

I tore my meniscus 4 days before a major hiking trip out west, and properly applied KT tape provided enough stability to limit the pain.
I think it’s good crutch to get through issues, but certainly not a long term solution.

I use it on my right shoulder when I do chest, shoulders, and back. I just pull it pretty tight. Kinda gives me a little support but honestly it’s probably mental.

It’s all a placebo. If you try it and like it, then use it. If you don’t see a benefit then it probably won’t be effective

Completely incorrect. Why make a statement about something you know nothing about?
I've used it as a brace to help train for my last marathon. Think of it as more of a support/brace system. I used it to help restrict movement/motion to my ankle & knee that were giving me issues.

I know a lot about it. Keep it in a drawer at my clinic for when patients ask about it

Have a bit of shoulder pain when lifting. How should it be applied to a shoulder?

Used it on my foot for plantar fasciitis and it provided support and seemed to help. Tore a quad a few years ago and tried it there and it didn’t do shite. I think it can definitely help with support for joints but it should be applied correctly. I don’t think it does much for muscular issues.

My first (and only) personal experience with it was several years ago at a softball tournament when I tire my hamstring.
A girl on my team had some and was like let me put this tape on your super sweat leg and it will work. It wouldn't stick and it didn't do a thing
But some folks love it and if it helps it helps.
