Nice! Nothing wrong with that. You using the Galloway method?

Yeah 4-1 or 5-1 is what I have been trying to hit. I ran LA last year at like a 10.5 and it wiped me out for several weeks so trying to not trash my legs and use it as a build up.

shite the bed at the WDW marathon. Before the flu and warm weather I had a 3:30 goal. After the flu and adjusting a little for weather I decided anything under 3:40 would be acceptable. Slow death on the second half and finished around 4:10. Going to rest a week and start training for zydeco full march 8 to attempt to redeem myself.

1.5 hrs of weighted stadiums today at HR132. No long run this weekend with all the rain and some other obligations. Been focusing on weights lately as I need to get stronger.

Rowing machine tomorrow AM and leg day at the gym in the PM.

4 Americans under 60 minutes. Feel like
Houston is becoming the go-to go-fast race for elites.

Side note: starting my half marathon taper this week. Peak mileage was 51 last week, not sure how I should reduce volume or structure workouts. Thinking I want a 10 day taper so tentative plan is:
1/12: 6 easy
1/13: 12 x hill sprints (7 miles total)
1/14: 5 easy
1/15: 25 minutes @ race pace (6 miles total)
1/16: 5 easy
1/17: 10 (7.5 easy/2.5 tempo)
39 miles for the week

1/19: 6 easy
1/20: 4 x 1k intervals @ race pace (6 miles total)
1/21: 5 easy
1/22: 4 easy
1/23: rest
1/24: 3 easy
1/25: race
24 miles excluding race

That seem reasonable?

Still great, man! Congrats!

So many people complaining about the walls of walkers yesterday on the Facebook page. Lots of arguments about what defines a runner. They also cut the distance short because the medic teams were having to ambulance people and way too many people having heat issues.

People were pissed that they couldn't get their official marathon completion.

I don't often wade into the arguments, but I did yesterday.

I was very polite and nice about it, but also very pointed. So many of these people don't train enough and just show up thinking they'll walk it. 16 min/mile pace is very generous of Disney as it is, that's a brisk walking pace.

So, for Disney to shut down the course early due to medical emergencies only further shows how far this event has tanked. It's sad because I truly support the underdog, those people that you'd never think could finish a marathon, but if you're going to make a mockery of it by halfway training, a marathon will not show you mercy on race day.

Training for the OKC Marathon in April. This will be my first marathon. Did a half marathon in 2023 @2:00:37 and Death by 5k last September.
Hoping to get sub 4:30.

Had a 8 mile long run with some buddies Saturday at 10:23. Felt good!

I had a corral A start and temps really weren’t that big of a deal. Finished right around 8:30 and never felt hot. Took a shower and headed to DHS and it’s just tons of people walking, not even attempting to run. It’s kinda a joke, because yeah… most of them do next to no training and are just in it for Instagram photos and shite. It’s likely my last WDW running event.

Yep, way too many wannabe influencers these days. And honestly the costumes have gotten out of control. I know it's Disney, but people running around as dinner tables, grandfather clocks, etc is just a bit too much.

I used to love the runDisney events, but I'm pretty much done.

Made the mistake of running 1/2 mile intervals with the former D1 kids in the run group. They managed sub 3 min intervals. I was right behind them with 3:07, 3:10, 3:12. Ran hard. Drank beer. Ate burgers.
