Goal is to add mass. Been at it for a while. Diet good. Gym good. Progressing.

I take a dump first thing in the morning after coffee. Same time 5:45 am, every day, for years now. No issue at all when it comes to that.
I have no idea how much fiber I get in a day but saw men my age need about 30g daily. I got some 7g fiber gummies and both mornings after I’ve eaten them the night before, I’m taking a second slammo at the gym around 6:15 am. It’s irritating. I saw a cup of beans or veggies has 4-7g, a banana 3g so I got gummies and some powder.
Do the benefits of a fiber supplement call for me switching up my daily routine?

I've been taking 4 fiber capsules 2x daily for about 2 years.

Keeps my bowels on schedule and creates solid dumps. I highly recommend it

My gastro doc said to get on Metamucil when I was about 45. 52 now. I eat super clean. Protein intake is my biggest daily driver concerninh my diet so when I hit that everything else generally falls into place. I am so regular it is scary. Generally right after I wake up at 0400 then honestly right before I walk in the gym or start training about 0500 which is nice in a way since I am then gtg for generally the rest of the day. Everything is smooth and uniform. I haven’t had a hemorrhoid since I started this and my
Colonoscopy was clear.

Point being Metamucil is on point.

Yes

We could almost all across the board use more fiber

I mix in some benefiber with my preworkout ( it has no taste or color or flavoring.. you wouldn’t even know it’s in there)

Or in days I don’t lift, will mix some in with some drinking water is I’m watching tv during the day

Be careful taking fiber supplements around the same time as other medications or supplements as it can delay or reduce absorption of the other items.

I recommend it

Take before you eat and get the psyllium husk with no sugar or other additives

Beside the benefit to digestion, It helps with insulin levels

I add a spoonful of plain psyllium husk to a glass of orange juice in the morning.

Why not just eat more fruit?

Per unit weight, my big jug of whole psyllium husk is cheaper than any commonly available fruit or vegetables. But the biggest reason is, that big jug of psyllium husk will never spoil or rot. I go through it pretty quickly, but the ones I buy are at least a month's supply and I don't have to worry about them going bad. I don't take fiber for constipation/regularity reasons though, I take it as a prebiotic in conjunction with the kefir I drink everyday as a probiotic. I hope it is accomplishing what I think it is, but a great outcome of my whole psyllium husk fiber usage is the wonderful poops. Effortless giant poops that leave me feeling as if my colon has been power washed out. It's exhilarating, and then the finish with a bidet.....chefs frickin kiss, homie.

But....I forgot to add, those bags of frozen berries (either the raspberries alone or the berry medley, which I think is raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries together) have large quantities of dietary fiber and they're obviously nutritious for a host of other reasons. The bag of frozen berries in the freezer is a constant staple for me in trying to include more fibrous foods in my diet.

It depends. I think you need very specific reasons to supplement fiber.

Don’t know if you live near a Costco but Costco sells a low carb tortilla under the brand name “La Tortilla Factory.” I recommend them. They taste good, don’t raise my blood sugar noticeably, and have 50 percent of your daily fiber in just one tortilla (14g of fiber). Eat a couple of those per day and you should be set.

This is an excellent post - thank you.

How much do you take a day?

I just started taking Metamucil - a teaspoon before bedtime.

Thinking about switching up up and increasing to a teaspoon in the morning and a teaspoon in the evening.

Also, moving away from weights in the workout and more walking.

I take 2 teaspoons about 30 minutes before my 3 biggest meals of the day. It helps with my appetite even though those meals are super protein dense so not sure that really matters. However, I don't take Metamucil for appetite suppression, mainly for keeping my bm's good and regular.

Since you are don't seem constipated, it doesn't sound like you need a fiber supplement. The morning coffee stimulates your colon, then the morning exercise does the same.

If you want to see if you can get to a single morning dump. Try to put your gut to bed with greater bulk by adding 1/2 cup of cooked beans to your dinner plate every other day. The beans with highest fiber are the smaller ones. Lentils are exceptional. Black beans are good too.

Metamucil works but has no nutritional value.

short answer.. Nope..

The only reason we're told to eat fiber is because we stopped eating fats regularly.. Eat a proper diet then you don't need fiber..

This is my rec. as well. Walmart & publix both have similar options including the 14g and a smaller 7g for street tacos. Just take it slow at first as your body ramps up!!

Look for the keto/diabetic friendly section and you will find tons of low carb/high fiber options that don't suck.

I am 10 days in now and wow…thank you.

I feel better and this seems to be a great solution.

Things are better and regular for this old man now!

Glad to hear. It works great for me. The only negative is that when it hits, you better be real close to a toilet. I literally can't leave to go train till after or it could be a situation.
