Creatine and protein supplements are heavily studied and proven supplements. I'm 47 and take both every day and can tell when I dont. Most of the other stuff is snake oil. Unless you go the pharmaceutical route.
Especially for how much most people lift.

lot of research coming out that it should be based on bodyweight and those in the 200 lbs range should be 10g minimum. not necessarily for muscle gain but for pure power and better benefits to the brain.

When I take 10 of mono it messes up my gut. I can do 7.5 with no issues. Once I’m through my current supply I’m going to try HCL. I’ve heard you can take lower doses of it. Any thoughts on that?

From my understanding, you can take lower doses of HCL, but it’s more expensive and not any more effective. I suppose it could be worth a shot if you have issues with mono.

yea some people are sensitive to it. I find the german creapure helps but yea i get stomach issues too. What has helped me is taking smaller doses. so like two 5g doses or splitting it into 3 or 4 even.

There's Chinese creatine?

Had my labs done. Creatine came in a little low at .76 mg/dl
According to the testing lab, my range should be .80-1.40
Middle 50s, 5'10 about 20lbs over weight.
Fairly active on the job(not heavy lifting) and do stretching exercises at home.
What do I need to get back into a good range? Not trying to build muscle. Just need to get toned back up and get into good cardio condition.

That would be creatinine levels, not creatine.
.76 is not that far off, tbh. Most likely causes of lower numbers are malnutrition, lack of muscle mass, or liver disease.
Eat better, lift some weights to increase you muscle mass. Doesn't have to be anything super heavy. Should get you back in the range you want to be in. If not, get your liver checked out. But, I doubt it's the liver since it isn't obscenely low.
TL;DR = creatinine is not creatine. Eat better, lift weights.

Gotcha.
I am going through my lab sheet looking at all these different results. Still wading through all those abbreviations and figuring out what they mean
Didn't read the OP close enough.

Thoughts on creatine
None. I just take it everyday and haven’t thought about it in years.

777 I have been giving my 12 year old 2.5 Grams a day. He works out 3 days a week but hasnt hit puberty yet. Wife is worried it could stunt his growth. Any studies you could point me to that show otherwise?
Posted on 5/23/25 at 12:26 pm to Nshore96
So your wife is like every other wife? Typical dumbass that just makes shite up?
Yea I know what that’s like
Literally zero and I mean zero evidence it stunts growth, never been found in 30+ years of research on it.
Creatine is naturally occurring…ask her would she think eating 2lbs of beef a day would stunt his growth cause he would get about 2.5g from that.
If anything it’s the opposite which makes sense in the way it works

Individual values for total grams of creatine consumed per day for each participant were computed using the average amount of creatine (3.88 g/kg) across all sources of meat-based foods. All participants were categorized for height-for-age and BMI-for-age categories. The average daily intake of creatine across the whole sample was 1.07 ± 1.07 g (95% CI, from 1.04 to 1.10). Height, weight, and BMI were significantly different across creatine quartiles (p < 0.001), with all measures significantly higher in the 4th quartile of creatine intake (=1.5 g/day) than those in other quartiles (p < 0.05). The participants from the 3rd quartile of creatine intake (0.84–1.49 g/day) were significantly different from others with respect to having lower rates of normal stature and higher rates of tall stature (p < 0.05). Each additional 0.1 g of creatine consumed per day increases height by 0.60 cm (simple model) or 0.30 cm (adjusted model). The daily intake of creatine from a regular diet in taller children and adolescents was higher than in shorter peers aged 2–19 years. Future research has to monitor temporal changes in growth and dietary creatine and validate our findings in interventional studies across pediatric populations.

What's with the down votes ? At least have the balls to comment why...

If tweet fails to load, click here. Every doctor should be prescribing creatine. It should be part of the food pyramid at this point.

My mom has a history of Alzheimer's on her side of the family so I mentioned the possible benefits of creatine and she said "that stuff used to be as dangerous as steroids! No way I'm taking that"
Oh how ignorant people not in the lifting community are on this stuff

Haha yea my mother in law asked me about it, I explained everything to her and warned…it may make you gain weight but it’s muscle
Now this is a women that is 65 and a widow…yet immediately so nope, no way…I will never take anything that makes scale go up. Explained it would make her look better…said she doesn’t care, if the scale moves up it’s a no…no matter what lol
