I do my runs/walks in the peak heat of the day. Builds mental toughness.

For max performance, its early afternoon if possible. I am at my strongest then. At my age, I am very stiff when I wake up, need to walk around for a few hours before squatting/deadlifting. It also helps having a couple of good meals in me and being fully hydrated.

Lunch break, usually 11a or so since if I go in the afternoon I won't be able to fall asleep.

Morning here - start warm up around 4:45.

Pros - everyone at my house is sleeping, less interruptions, more time to spend with family and cooking dinner after work, weather is cooler

Cons - absolute strength is a little lower when compared to afternoon, need to go to sleep earlier to be able to wake up early, takes a little longer to get warmed up

Morning walk with the dogs around 6am.

M-F: 8:30am at the gym at work - either resistance training or cardio

Evening walk with the dogs/kid/wife after dinner (6-6:30pm).

Well, preCovid I used to work out in the morning at 5AM - then with the shutdowns and stuff I started sleeping late - and working out in the afternoons - I guess since I’m not really a morning person - my body has reacted better and I’ve actually lost more weight and build more muscle

I missed the gym but pulled some tendons before they reopened so I’m still working out in the afternoons at home - however I’ll go swim at my gym a few times a week

It’s probably best to do whatever your body likes - I tried to make myself a morning person (was working out at 5AM for two years) but I don’t think it was the best for me

Afternoon. I enjoy the heat, able to prep my body thru hydration & nutrition for peak performance

Yep. Back when I was at work, I had a membership to a gym. I would fast all morning, just drinking a bunch of water after a cup or two of coffee. Go for a run around 12:30 or so, get back and showered, then eat lunch back at my desk. Did this a couple or three days a week. I liked running in the heat better than in the morning. My neighborhood is full of thick grass and tons of trees, and all the dew and humidity in the morning made it unbearable, even at lower temps.

I feel like i have more energy through the day when i work out in the AM.

I usually just go when there aren't a lot of people at my gym.

8PM works best for my schedule with two kids under 4.

I usually do 5:15am Monday mornings, not a morning guy though and its against my nature to not hit the snooze button.

I’ve tried the morning workouts. Laid my clothes and shoes out and all. Have never done it to this day just hit snooze . I think I’ll always be an afternoon workout kind of person

Never been a morning person but have been working out before work about 6am. When I go on the weekend I’ll go about 11am-12 , which I prefer. But, I never know what will come up in the evenings and working out in the morning guarantees I get it in regardless of what happens later on. Definitely sucks getting used to it though

Indeed. Wake up at 4:30 sharp and am at Lafreiniere or the levee by 5. I do a lot of Crossfit-based stuff on the running trail for time (IE: As many rounds in 20 minutes of 1/4 mile run, 25 prisoner squats, 25 calf raises, 25 crunches) so I stop at each 1/4 mile point and there's no one there to say anything about it. Got 6 and a quarter rounds done this morning. I do hill sprints at the levee twice weekly and there's no one in sight.

Like Jocko says - up before the enemy. It has its benefits for sure.

I’ve always mixed it up between early morning, lunch, or early evening during the week.

On weekends, I like mid-morning.

We are in bed lights out by 930 at the latest M-F. No phone, no tv, etc. We work out M, T, W, F, and Sa. Stay up later (12) and sleep later (630-7) during the weekend with an hour-ish nap on both days. Usually treat ourselves to breakfast out after our workout on Saturday and come home to crash.

Immediately after work. Tried going before but just couldn't keep it up. May try again if I get a job that starts later in the day. Would be nice to go straight home after work. Have my gym bag with me and change there, drinking a black coffee on the way.
