Ended my search recently by buying a drum stile smoker. Came from a gravity feed. So happy with it that I now look for even more reasons to smoke.

I finally pulled the trigger on a Weber Kamado

I've never used one, but they look to kick arse. A Youtuber I watch, Pellets and Pits, sometimes uses his, and it is very impressive how fuel efficient it is. He said he wonders if the food gets as much smoke as in other pits because it burns so little fuel. But the food seems turn out great.

I can't recommend Recteq Bullseye. Food comes out incredible, but constantly having issues with the digital display/ temp settings. Sometimes after I open the lid to flip food or whatever, if temp drops it will continue to drop until I shut it off completely and restart/ reset the desired temp.

A few days ago it wouldn't heat up, display was on and fan was running, pellet feeder was doing its thing, pellets didn't light. Couple days later I turned it on and fired up like normal.... frustrating unit.

Maybe all brands have quirkiness but if I ever get a new one, it won't be this brand.

I loved mine when I got it and it worked great for 3 years but then the barrel rusted through and it fell apart.

I had a Masterbuilt as well. When it died I got a Pitt Boss electric with pellet hopper

I did the same thing for smoking sausages. I could fit about 10 lbs in the MES 30. I can put 30ish in the Pit Boss. Last year I easily fit 6 boston butts in the pit boss. That would have been a tight squeeze for the masterbuilt.

If you want a pellet smoker the camp chef woodwind pro is amazing. Hard to clean, though.

This is what I have and I recommend it also. The pull out drawer that lets you have actual smoke while having the ease of the pellets is great. I second your point about cleaning though.

It was old and well used. Eventually GFCI kept shorting every time I tried turning it on. Unplugged everything possible and it was still shorting. I figured it was time to put that bad boy to at the curb.

Feedback on the Masterbilt electric?

I have bought 4 of these now. 2 for myself, one for my mom, and one for my sister. The control panel on both of mine went out soon after the warranty went out and they were no longer offered for replacement. I think part of their business plan is that these be disposable. I purchased a different brand this year but have not had it long enough to give it a positive review. I will not be purchasing another Masterbilt.

TimeOutdoors, many thanks for the electric Masterbilt review. I was so close to pulling the trigger on one back around Black Friday but there were numerous reviews stating exactly what you said. I'd really like one but am skiddish on this particular one.
I wouldn't be using it all the time but steady, nevertheless. The simplicity of the electric appeals to me.
Thank you

Depends on what you are looking for,
If you want something easy with modern tech but when it fails it fails big time then look for the pellet smoker or electric gravity feeders.

Stick Burners ae simple, but require work. Its not a dial it in and go on about your day, but there is very little risk besides overcooking your food. It teaches you the fundamentals, that once mastered make it fun.

Drums are fun, i do enjoy my drum smoker, the only real downfall is cooking capacity. I would recommend taking time to learn fire and temp control because the margins are slim.

Kettles are great to learn the fundamentals, but your limited to one or two proteins at a time. its the swiss army knife, in that it can do everything okay but nothing super great.

Electric smokers are entry level, would not recommend
