FWIW...i think that true freshman QB at Miami has them back on the right track. He looks like he could be very good.

well yeah, but most freshman QBs develop
mehhh not all the time
if anything could derail us from this year, it would be the Defense, which has been our bread and butter

i'm not disagreeing with you. i haven't given up hope on lee at all
but he will always provide enough spark to give him rope. whether he uses that rope to hang himself is up to him

I was thinking about this a little while ago and how lucky we were to have a successful run of QBs since its been the downfall of some big time programs

No, only 2 BCS titles and 3 SEC titles, 4 BCS bowl wins, aside from that, we haven't won anything.

then that got me thinking about Miami/FSU. both programs would still be on top if they hadn't missed so badly in QBs (berlin/wright for UM, rix/jesus/lee for FSU)
I said this throughout Lee's rough year.

sure..ole miss and arky
but who is to say he wouldn't have folded at AU?

We're 9-3 with RP at QB . . . but who knows maybe that means Malleveto stays and we don't get the huge upgrade at DC?

I pretty sure I can honestly say that I hate you?

more like Arky and either Bama or UGA.

schaeffer transferring/not developing
Schaeffer transfered because Ainge was better. Ainge did well enough, he was just hurt and there was no real back up.

rix/jesus/lee for FSU
Rix sucked. The problem with Weatherford and Lee was that Lee was the better QB IMHO, but they never seriously used him or let him start until his Sr year.

examples of programs completely being derailed by picking the wrong QB
Not along the same lines, but the Rhett Bomar situation might have screwed OU for a year or two.
Jimmy Clausen if he doesn't develop in a year or two.
Marcus Vick, Robert Lane, Mitch Mustain, Matthew Tuiasosopo & RP.

WOW you said something logical.
Posted on 12/30/08 at 2:14 pm to SlowFlowPro
Bomar could've fricked up OU if the Big 12 didn't stop playing defense.
Posted on 12/30/08 at 2:16 pm to BamaScoop
I think LSU would have been 10-2 worst case scenario this year with RP"
Agreed. Offense would have been on the field a lot longer in some cases, scored quite a bit more, generally covering up for a faltering defense. Therein lies the silver lining. We'll be getting the defense fixed before it cost us another title.
