Echols will be a great player once he learns to chop his feet.
It was frustrating seeing him win the block and get leverage intially, but because of bad coaching/technique he couldn’t get to the second level. His balance is the #1 thing holding him back.

I think Echols and Curne will be good down the road, like Heard was this year
Guess teams no longer give OL time to develop

I have faith CLK has a plan for the OL, I just wish I knew what it was!

Tells me that Lane already has someone lined up in the portal. These kids are being told to look elsewhere.

How did Thomas and miller play this year?

I’m sorry but I don’t think any amount of coaching can help Davis, Mubenga or Chester in the SEC. they are just awful and needs to go to a G5 school desperately.

Perhaps I did not agree with the majority of Tiger fans, but was hoping Echols would return. I thought a new line coach would help him.
I realize he could still leave the portal and return to LSU, but I doubt that will happen.
So best of luck to him now, wherever he plays next season.

This happens, when you give 18 year olds money to stand there and holler, "LOOK OUT"
Let them leave or, take what's offered, man up, get coached up and be better for it.

Lot's of maybe's here but the bottom line is he was a part of a group that way underperformed this season. Best of luck Coen

I would've been pretty content with Curne and Echols both starting at Guard next season.
The loss of these two is throwing the baby out with the bath water. I get it that there’s a new sheriff in town, but this guy Wolford doesn’t have the notches on his gun to disappear young talent like these two

I honestly don’t care if we lose everyone but Moore on the line. I’m sure with coaching some of these guys could be good, but I trust Kiffin to make those evaluations. I’m not saying Echols or Curne are dumb, but you have to have a higher IQ for Lanes style of offense. We ran a very basic blocking scheme compared to that of OM. We ran a trick play against W. Kentucky where 4 OLineman line up out wide, but none of them were on the line of scrimmage resulting in a penalty. This was coming out of a timeout.

Ole Piss bound unfortunately

Lane Kiffin thought enough of "this guy Wolford" to name him as OL coach.
Since he seems to find solid OL coaches, this should turn into a decent hire.
Let's see how Wolford does this spring and then can make more informed judgments about him.

The OL strength, leverage and scheme have all been bad for years under Davis, Sloan and the S&C staff. Said that even when Campbell and Jones etc were playing. They got worse each year vs better. The hard part is Kiffin basically needs minimum 8-9 good OL and that will cost mega $$$$ in the portal if you can find that many Decent/good OL. The OL coach hire maybe a step up from Davis but that’s still not a good hire. That’s probably the weakest hire on Staff. You have to win OL/DL if you want to win big games in the SEC/playoffs. Lane will have a better scheme for Offense which will help the OL but getting 8-9new guys, learn new scheme, new team new players that’s a lot! Hopefully they have a very good analyst and recruiter for the OL.

Casual. OM’s blocking schemes were actually pretty basic. It’s mostly gap scheme out of 11 or 12 personnel. There’s a lot of motion and window dressing to create leverage and to force the defense to show its hand, but their run game isn’t complicated at all. It’s just been very well executed.
A guy like Echols is ideal for this scheme. But he was originally recruited by A&M and was committed to them for a while. Their OL was one of the best in the SEC most of the season and he may be looking to go there after Davis couldn’t help him here.
Anyone who isn’t an idiot would also keep Tyree Adams at the very minimum. It would be better to bring in a top LT and move him to RT, but he was a good solid player when healthy. Most would prefer to keep guys like Curne, Thomas, Ory Williams (as an inexpensive backup Tackle) and the younger guys who haven’t played much yet for depth.
You can’t build an entire fricking OL in the portal like some of you seem to believe. Every team that has tried that has failed miserably. Texas Tech was able to get a few good ones and improve in one offseason last cycle thanks to spending around $10 mil on one position, but we also brought in two of the highest rated OL on the market and only one panned out. If you have to take more than 3 OL in the portal out of necessity, you are usually in trouble.
